Huh... Oh hell yeah.. I follow Atlas don't I.

I am all CIV'ed out for now though. I will see how I feel this evening after a swim. I just finished playing a large monarch game on a wagon wheel type map.. great fun and a heck of a challenge and I actually won but it totally drained me.

I will give n0xie a chance to play as he's been skipped a few times, but if he does then he'll be up again after me.

    Quick turnset this time. :)

(0)--350AD - Bit of MM and that's it.

    (3)--395AD - Calcutta is founded.

(5)--425AD - Delhi: Library -> Hindu Missionary for Calcutta.
Madras: Settler -> Christian Missionary for town that the settler makes.
Bangalore: Sistine Chapel -> Goes back to Hindu Missionary that was in the queue.

(6)--440AD - Research to Divine Right for the reasons outlined in my earlier post. (I see this as one of our biggest threats).
    Bombay: Axeman -> Axeman.

Ok.. before pressing enter, I had a bit of a look at the tech situation. No-one will trade construction with us. DR is 27 turns away and construction is only 6. I revise my selection and choose construction instead.

(7)--455AD - Now Mao is building roads through our territory! He must be trying to get his forces down there to attack someone. At least we know it's not us. (fingers crossed).

(8)--470AD - Alex comes demanding 120g. I don't see us being in any position to deny him so I say yes. It improves our relations with him a bit. Hopefully we can keep him off our backs until we are prepared to take him. If anyone declares on us, we will have to divert our attention from wonder building.

(9)--485AD - Delhi: Hindu Missionary -> The Great Library (due in 12).

    (10)--500AD - I didn't write anything down so I guess nothing happened.

The only other wonder we are capable of building is Angkor Wat and no-one has Philosophy yet so we're ok with that.

Lets discuss what to do now. We are at what I see as a potential deal breaking choice as if one AI goes the other way we may miss a wonder. We have to choose DR or Engineering. Both will be 20+ turn techs and both lead to wonders. With luck, the AI will be too busy catching up their missing techs to go for these but we need to rush them in.

No need to panic, we are doing pretty damn good as far as I am concerned.

I sneaked in 10 turns since I took a skip before and have the day off...

I was writing a big report when the connection timed out when I posted it, and lost everything I wrote. AARGH

Well not much happened anyway but I don't feel like writing it all again so instead you'll get a short report.

    * Traded Metal Casting with Hatsheput for 120gp + Horseback riding (we needed the money and she was annoyed: she is now cautious)
    * Declined to stop trading with monguls to Hatsheput (still cautious)
    * Was suprised to find the GL being build in Delhi (GPP polution and all that...). My normal approach is GL+NE+Oxford, but I guess this will work as well :p
    * Got Construction and switched tech to CS. The boost for Delhi will be much more valuable in the long run (especially with the GL there). Also I would propose forcing a Great Prophet in Delhi (switch to Pacifism + 3-6 Priest Specialists) to get DR instead of putting beakers into it since I would say Engineering after CS...
    * Moved the christian missionary to Bangalore instead of Bombay

    Some notes:
    * We got too few workers imho: some cities are working unimproved tiles
    * We got too much militairy imho (each city already has 2 defender units and we don't really need axeman right now, especially since we have macemen in about 8 turns)
    * We're doing great on wonders :D

And they said it couldn't be done! HAH! ;)

Very nice played so far everyone.

Um Mao has Philosophy I think, since he founded Taoism and switched to it during my turnset I think, thus we DO need to be building Angkor Wat!! I think we should research towards Engineering, pop a Prophet from Delhi and burn him to get us towards Divine Right, how does that sound for a plan? Try to get the prophet before the Great Library cause after that our pool of Great person points will really be diluted.

Good Turns Kiknit. Good Luck nOxie.

Yes Atlas, you are right, my mistake. That means that we should probably put the Great Library on hold for Angkor Wat. Sorry about that, I did read you say that Taoism has been founded but mis-read the tech screen when looking at who had what. .

EDIT: woops.. I just realised that n0xie has played and I read Atlas's mail first.

I am not surprised, I saw your turnset and then posted. When my post came up nOxie's report was already came up. So despite the date and time you see on those posts nOxie's and mine are really like 3-4minutes apart :crazyeye: . I don't know why but there you have it.

To me this is one of those 'why didn't I think of that' moments. This is a great idea I think. We can rush the prophet whilst also doing engineering and get both techs in about 20 turns or so instead of chosing one or the other.

Now it was my turn to have a crash after typing a long report.
Hope the computer cooled down enough to get the job done now.

    (0)650AD
GL in one turn and we now have some Military. Looks good. I like the idea to get a Prophet out of Delhi. Right now the odds are for a GE. I set a priest and we'll see what we get. I wouldn't mind a GE at all.

    (1)665AD
GL in! (The screenshot didn't take. :( )
Delhi starts the Angkor Wat right away. It'll take 42 turns due to the pile of specialists I just set. I'll go down again after we get some great person in 2 turns.

    (2)680AD
    Nothing.

IBT: Huayna asks for Literature. With the GL built and him being quite annoyed, I give in.

    (3)695AD
We got Archimedes (GE). He'll be useful later when we build an expensive wonder or are fearing we won't get one.
I thought long about what to do with Delhi now. In the end I decide to let it grow and have production first. We can attempt to get a Prophet after building Angkor Wat. We'll have more GP points then. Theology is still a monopoly tech, so nobody is even close to DR.
I check diplo as well now. We are not liked at all, but Hatty is the most hated person. I trade Literature to Genghis for 130 gold. Nobody else has enough gold to make a trade worthwile and I don't want to help Mao at all. He's our closest contender in research.

    (4)710AD
Madras: Library -> Fast Worker. We certainly need more of them.

    IBT:
Alex demands Philosophy. Arghhh. I take another thinking break. In the end I give in.

    (5)725AD
CS -> Machinery (10) on the way to Engineering.
    I revolt to Bureaucracy.
Mao gets a Prophet. Let's see what he does with him.

    (6)740AD
Mao has Machinery now, but Theology is still a monopoly.

    (7)755AD
    Bombay: Fast Worker -> Library

    (8)770AD
    Khan and Alex have Feudalism.
The Dai Miao has been built.

    (9)785AD
    Bangalore: Forge -> Library

IBT: Huayna wants us to cancel deals with Hatty. I consider this carefully and accept. Hatty is hated and has no open borders with Mao or Genghis. She can be annoyed with us as much as she wants, but she doesn't have a way to get at us.
We are only still alive because nobody has yet attacked us. We should do everything to keep it like that. Mao gets more and more annoyed at us though, so a military buildup is necessary when Machinery comes in.
No more trading with Hatty please! Let's hope she stays on the top of everybody's hate list.

    (10)800AD
Angkor Wat in 7, Machinery in 4.
I have kept my nerves together and not used the GE on Angkor Wat. I hope we can get it done on its own. But it is not without risk!!

I'll need a skip next time it comes round to me. Travelling for a few days. :)

Here's what to do with your computer when it does that ... :badcomp:

So that's another wonder down and we will have yet another in 7 turns. We are also getting some towns together to build a bit of an army. I think as we get more cities we can start playing an almost normal game while having a city or two building wonders at any time.

At least a GE isn't the worst thing that we could have got with our wonder buildng tendencies. What's the tech he would give us? Maybe we could use him for Engineering? Would he even give us that? And then we can research divine right instead. Just swap the freebie and learned techs due to the different GP.

Anyhow, Enjoy your trip Sina. :wavey:

I hope for you all that Alex doesn't have a Great Engineer sitting at home - after all he is Philosophical. He could screw your game by rushing Angkor Wat...

Anyway, great game so far ! :goodjob:

Thanks! This one is certainly not good for the nerves though.

10 minutes of the thinking time I took before giving in to his demand was trying to remember in what order GE's pop up. I don't think there is any between the two we got, but I am not sure!
Does anybody know if there is a reference list out somewhere?

    Thanks Timon!

We'll have to use Archimedes then I guess. I think I have read somewhere that with a tie, the player is guaranteed to get the wonder. So far I have not experienced the opposite, so that statement is probably correct.

All my knowledge is either experienced or from reading. I know nothing about XML and whatelse, just that the game needs it to run when I click on the shortcut. :D

My apologies all. My sister lost her 8-month old child on Monday night. I've been staying with family with no access to CIV or internet, but am returning home tonight. Please skip me, I will be back on deck in a day or so.

    Again, my apologies.
