name a unit that you wish was in civ III or in a future civ game

LOL @ Alpine Trooper!

How about an attack helicopter? Short range, good bombard and RoF, sucky defense vs air, requires aluminum and oil.

I want Seals\Spetznas\sas as really late game units. With an upgrade ability from marines and paratroopers. That whould be great.

I would add a minelayer because it would help defend me from other civ's units by damaging them in they ran into a minefield.
Yay! Laying mines would be a great idea! :rocket2:

US Army Striker/LAV

U.S.A.F. YF-23

Crusader Artillery

SR-71

U-2

Cobra Gunship

US Army Land Warriors

Modern Marine

Army Rangers

JSF

Eurofighter

Sukhoi Fighters

I really liked the Slaver unit from CTP, it was a great way to build up your cities, and a fairly cheap upkeep as well.

I also wish there was a way to do war in space, and have space units (Basically air units that move really far and fast)

This may be off-topic, but it would also be great to be able to bribe barbarians. Or to create a barbarian unit (privateer on land)

There is a great Spetsnaz made by Balou, in case you didnt know, that IS as good as the firaxis units. Check IT out.

An early amphibious pirate type unit.

Musketmen that worked on offense (british redcoats and such). Guns made melee virutally obsolete, so their should be a better gun unit before riflemen.

Naval fleet sounds cool.

I would like to see some futuristic fantasy units. Giant robots piloted by people like in Mechwarroir. Or maybe infantry with rocketpacks that let them move over enemy units. They could upgrade from paratroopers.

Yup. I would love to see a Mechwarrior unit (specifically, a Timberwolf unit - :D I just love them).

besides the tens of modern units I'd like to have, I'd also like a trebuchet - something between a cannon and a catapult.
I'd also like to see napoleonic units, as someone mentioned

First Off, bring the cruiser back. Naval Warfare jumps from pithy destroyers to giant battleships.

Second, a Torpedo Plane. I'd like to see a plane designed for Naval warfare with lethal bombing capabilities. I can understand that Fighters and Heavy Bombers are only support craft and don't have lethal bombing capabilities... this makes sense. What's lacking are the Torpedo Planes of WWII, the ones that sunk ships. Dive Bombers and "Tank Killers" for Land based operations might be nice, but I'm afraid to ask for too much. So please, Firaxis, bring back Naval Aerial Warfare?

Third, I'd like to an Artillery unit that can move faster than 1 space per turn, like we had in Civ2.

Fourth Attack Helicopters like we had in Civ2. I like the fact we can transport land units like AirCav now, that's great! But what about The Helicopters Offensives capabilities?

Fifth and Last, I'd like to see the Caravan/Frieght brought back. Not so we can horde them and rush wonders but rather 1)so we can establish trade routes for things like "beads" within our own borders and 2) so we can enjoy trickles of trade with far away lands early on. I think the Caravn unit represented how difficult establishing trade routes were back in Ancient and Medieval times. Presently, if two far away nations wanted to trade luxuries (trade route to China, anyone?) they couldn't before ocean faring. Nations in between couldn't play middle man in the process, and make fortunes on trade routes through their territories. However, Caravans can make the time-consuming trek across the continent. Another great thing about caravans was that they could ship food from farming cities to industrial cities. Lets face it, in the real world some areas are agrarian, some are industrial. I loved that facet of Civ2, it made a lot of sense!
