Naming Poll - Bay near New Port City

Poll Question: What should we name the bay near New Port City?


Options:

• New Port Bay
• New City Port
• Other
• Abstain

Procedure: This is the first round of voting for a name. An option must receive at least 33% of the vote to be declared the winner of the poll. If no option receives 33% of the vote, a second poll will be held with only the top three vote-getters from this poll, guaranteeing that at least one option will receive the required 33%. You may only vote for one option in each round of voting. Note: If a second round is necessary, the current name of the city must be included in the three options.

It's nice to see that after being blindly proposed several times as a city name for landlocked areas, New Port City finally found its home in the proper place.

I voted for the equally bland New Port Bay.

Why will there be a second poll? There were only two names in the running.

Erm, actually the proecedure only stated that the top vote-getter needed to receive at least 33% of the votes to be declared the winner. It says nothing else about how many votes the other options received.

That procedure was mainly to deal with polls that had 8 nominations, where the highest would only get like 2 or 3 votes. When there are 3 or less options, then it's moot because the highest option has to receive more than 33% anyway.
