National Parks

And another screenshot that explains appeal, for those of you who want to start planning your National Parks already:

Thanks a lot, elitetroops -- great information!

I really find it interessting that appeal is not only influenced by (quasi)static factors like landscape and improvements but also by pillaged tiles!
It is intuitive - there will be less tourism in ruins - and it is also some means to delay a cultural victory. Carpet pillage to reduce appeal a LOT.

Hm, that also makes me wonder — what happens if a National Park contains an archaeological site within its borders? Does that tile get extra appeal? Does it lose that appeal if the site is excavated and the artifact removed? I know this is all kind of subtle, but I can't help thinking about it...

National parks need unimproved tiles.
Yes, the Civilopedia entry says "No tile can have an improvement or a district on it." But what about an archaeological site with the relic removed? Would that count as an 'improvement'?
