Could someone please tell me why the heck I'm against euthanasia? I dunno, it's just that I find myself morally incapable of enacting such a bill - actually that's my real world stance, as well, and that's what I'm trying to indicate here. It's a really tricky issue, I think. Just like abortion! I don't know what the hell to think; on one hand it may be good, but on the other hand it's just as morally despicable as euthanasia. I mean, I am wholly incapable of knowing what abortion and euthanasia really mean; and what it implies, long-term effects, etc. etc. As a legislator you vote, argue a little, but you haven't tried it yourself; I know all too well it's like that with most of the real world issues countries all over the world are facing at this very moment, but think about it.

I just came to really ponder about this; thinking, wow, I really change my opinion about these two subjects, as examples, as the wind blows. Any of you guys torn over this/these kind of issue(s)?

And that case; what have you voted, i.e. regarding euthanasia, and what would you vote, if abortion suddenly appeared as an issue in NationStates (I expect you run your state as you would in reality, most of you :) )

Pardon me, for my wholly incoherent and fatuous philosophical rant.

the Empire of Atrebla was forced to dismiss the issue, as my feelings for the poor citizen were felt. However, I cannot in good faith allow those whose lives have worth to eliminate themselves simply because they are depressed.

Nixon - I voted to allow euthanasia. Why should the state step in front of someone's wishes to die? For some people who are elderly and suffering, only kept alive by artificial respirators, they may wish to be put to sleep. The state should not force individuals to live, when they are suffering this much and can never return to an existant free of artificial respirators.

Abortion is a much more controversial one. I am pro-choice; I believe the mother should be the one to make the choice. Granted, having an abortion is a horrible decision to make, but if it is outlawed, women will just have them unsafely, unable to have them performed in proper medical institutions.

You're right about abortion, I think. I have been tipping toward pro-choice most of the time, but have had my revelations from the other side of the hill. To me, it still seems immoral, but nonetheless, you're right, because it should be straightly up to the mother whether she want it. Outlawing abortion would have horrendous consequences, and it would not be a pretty sight.

On euthanasia - I'm also perfectly able to follow you there, but just like abortion, I am in some way morally opposed to that as well. It's like you've lost faith in God, and in no way trying to sound religious, but it seems wrong that you want someone to ring the bell for you.

But again, but stances on these issues, especially euthanasia could very well change, it's one of the rare issues where I'm not unshakable.

If it comes up again, I will seriously reconsider allowing euthanasia.

Thanks to the wonders of modern Hitropian technology the country with its 99 million inhabitants moved to the CFC region, finally. :goodjob:

There are 19 UN members in the CFC Region, but only SIX endorsements for Dellland? There should be 18! Why are all of you diluting the CFC Region's influence like this? Get with it, everybody! ENDORSE DELLLAND!

Delland has done nothing for Siberialus, nothing!

Edit: Hell, I'll endorse you, but the first anti-Tiger act you make will see swift retribution.

Nice to see some progress being made in the one region, one delegate proposal.

What has that got to do with politics?
Doesn't the delegate get an extra vote for every endorsement?

Then why should someone support a delegate who will vote different?

I don't agree with Delland either.

This is taken from Delland's page of nationstates.net:

"The Disputed Territories of Dellland...population of 107 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
...The average income tax rate is 29%...
Guns are banned, there are no minimum wage laws, Animal Liberationists are regularly jailed...Crime is totally unknown."

I just cannot support such a nation. Since there is no better choice so far (besides myself) I have endorsed Phantomlordia. I would have endorsed Willetopia had he still been functional.
