I was glancing at the article about civilization 4, and noticed a screenshot included a city that was named Cherokee (link at bottom). No native civs are listed besides Aztecs and Incas, and generally those are meant literally representing themselves, while another civ (Sioux or Cherokee) represents North American tribes as a whole. Could this be either another civilization or an example of a scenario mode (in which nonstandard civs could be in scenarios)?

Some think that might be a "minor" civ, something that many people have suggested.

yes ive heard alot of talk of minor civs...so i would not be suprised if thats what you were seeing

For most of the screen shots I think they dont have a city text yet so they have to name them themselves or leave it as 0101011 or something to that effect.

With the current lack of any "native America" civ as a playable civ in the game, I would assume that the native American nations are subsumed under the American Civ. Hence that city, Cherokee, could very well be an American city.

Or it may be as Colonel says, that the cities are just named impromptu and the actual list of cities are not out yet.
