Question though, why does the Battleship have an obsolete tech if it is the last in the line of Naval Capital Units?
Historical. Too expensive, weak vs aviation, somehow weaker than Missile Cruiser. Obsolete when SuperCarrier goes online.
 
I didn't try them in a full game, strategic, but only tactical, and I noticed that the AI uses them ok
 
Battleship should upgrade to a Missile Cruiser and keep its promotions if that's possible.

I think this unit model is already used in vp (cruiser) and anyway there is not much room for other new naval units.
 
I like the direction your mod is moving, showing significance of the strongest ships of the time. Also ironclads ranged ship makes sense. It still falls short with dreadnoughts and battleships imo, as they were larger and stronger for their time than Ships of the line or Ironclads were. I'd give them at least:
  • +50hp
  • 20-30%CS when defending,
  • +25% base RCS,
  • 3 range (4 for Yamato, it needs to be busted as a very late UU)
  • much increased production and maintenance cost
  • and strat. requirements to eg. 2 iron 1 coal for dreadnoughts and 2 iron, 1 oil for battleships

But I know it drastic and goes against your design somewhat, only a suggestion.
