Naval Mine

That's just the way the game works. There's really nothing you can do. If you have the mine set as invisible, the ship that runs into it can't see it or the explosion, unless it is set to see invisible. However, I think it can still hear the explosion.
 
becuase I'm using this unit for my ww2 MOD I tried several things out...

1) paradrop on sea doesn't work..
2) setting with transports like with the landmine and the truck doesn'T work..

I made it just as you mentioned in your first post:
give it a mobility of 1. Then even the AI uses them, if you give them an attack of 1.
 
Here are all the pcx files for Pesoloco's Naval Mine. Nice Idea and can be used but Paradrop or Unloading from a transport will not work. Must use settings that are much like a ship. Either set the editor for more moves if you intend to keep it for yourself and get it to a position fast and Fortify it...or give it a movement of 1 and give it to the AI as well. Invisable, Hidden Nationality, etc...up to you.

hey Vuldacon...well first of all there are much better civilopedia pics already up on pesoloco's site http://pesolocociv.tripod.com/units.htm#Naval_Mine he did all his units w/ pedia icons so they could be submited to firaxis from what i rember him telling me but thanxs anyways
 
Here are a few sounds for Pesoloco's Naval Mine. I just Tweaked the diffuse and mineboom.wavs a bit and made a Run and Fortify for anyone wanting them. Includes the .INI file.
...BTW, Pesoloco did a Great job on the PCX files for this unit. Much better than my efforts to try to make them from the Flcs.

I can't get the naval mine to move, unless its like a ship. It won't load onto any sea transport of any kind. Is the only option to allow it to travel like a ship?
 
greenmtnsun...That is the way. Navel units will Not Load on any transport. Read my post above. Set it as a ship but you can give it the moves you want (few or many) and also make it Invisible and or Hidden Nationality. In use, have it move where you want it and Fortify it there. Just in case you are wondering, Airdrop will not work either. If you plan to use it without giving it to the AI then give it More moves. If you intend to give it t the AI as well then perhaps 1 move...Best the Game Settings will allow for a Unit such as this but it works well if you make it invisible, Hidden Nationality and just move it where you want it and Fortify it.
 
I think the Naval Mine is very important for homeland security, but I think the pic needs some upgrading, it looks more like a floating air ballon then a mine, make the Naval Mine be more in the water like half way in or 1/4 way out of the water, floating on the surface of the water and not on top like a hot air ballon.
 
Why not make the sea mine the ''escort'' option just like the Holy Relic in the age of discovery...

If you dink around with the rules you should be able to make it airdrop, I mistakenly did that with a bunch of battleships a while back and the next thing I knew I had battleships on land, battleships way away from their home harbor, battleships bloody everywhere, you may have to give it a range of operation like a plane but i'm not certain
