NCSG1-Suryavarman II!

I can play mine, jumping in to play 10 turns isnt too hard. I do have a lot of games to play right now, new NC is up, still finishing up the Agustus Caesar LHC, which is a blast of a game, I highly recommend it, but I can squeeze this in. It will give me a chance to try my 2-system play/write up technique, although I cant actually do it til my kids leave on Thursday. So as long as Rex doesnt skip, I can get mine inside the 48 hours no worries.

I think we can relax the 24/48 rule a bit at the moment, it seems to be a busy time for everyone. Next week will be tough for me; I have exams (first year of college, so I want to do well )

You should be revising young man! Not playing empty headed computer games and hanging around on the internet!!

Yeah, the rules can be put on hold. Bleys can play on Thurs/Fri, and then I can get it on the weekend. Perfect timing, I have a couple track meets next week.

Hope everything is ok Rex.

Good luck guys I'm off in a mo. Might be able to check in the next couple of days but doubtfull.

I will pick it up in a few hours and play my turn this evening, and try to post tonight as well. No worries.

OK played a set. Not a ton to report, as I was in transition a lot.

To start off, I used the last turn of our Golden Age to change civics. Back to Buracracy, and Caste System, as we are starting to get some nice populations and I wanted to be able to run specialists.

I sent the GG over to settle in Hari, which is a good production city. I considered Amsterdam, but decided that city is our Science City and we should try not to mix in too many things. A future GG can certainly be settled there, but for now, I think Hari is also strong. Needs workshops (in fact, we need workshops all over, any non watermill-able plains, please)

We need workshops all over the place. After Guilds I teched through Banking. I got the predictable GS pop in Amsterdam and bulbed half of Education with it. Teched Banking after Guilds per our plan, revolted to Merc, and started the rest of Education. Current save is 1 turn from finishing it.

We can trade Guilds to Qin for Philo now (too late to trade him CS, he is teching it) however, wait til he gets some more gold, at least a couple hundred, he only has 40 right now. We dont need Lib next anyway, we can get Gunpowder or something else first, then Lib. We are so far ahead in techs its not funny.

Colossus is really paying off for us, so is Mids. We have a solid tech rate at 40% slider, very strong. As our cottages mature, it will get better. Printing Press will help too.

Finished up the UoS as well. To be honest, I think we may be pulling two-opposite ways here. We should be mass-building Buddhist buildings, and prepping for a switch there. Oh, I made that Arctic City with the settler, and sent a pile of workers down there to get the Copper, Silver and Deer hooked up quickly. It ended up getting Buddhism spread on its own. Make Workboats in our Capitol right now, its Theater finishes in 1 turn, so crank out 2 workboats ASAP. That Arctic City will be AMAZING once we max out the Watermill techs. It can build 3 or 4 watermills, a Copper mine, a Silver mine, with Deer and 2 Fish for food. You guys will be shocked how good it gets. Make those Watermills, and then we should never need to send a worker down there again.

I also started Notre Dame in Amsterdam. We should get it easily. I also started a bunch of Forges. There are other wonders out there too, we should consider them. MoM especially, although our 1-GPerson GA is already spent.

I need to mention a few things. One, hammer decay. The city that had an Ellie building in it that started a Collesium lost almost all the hammers in the Ellie. Try not to jump new things in front of builds unless you plan to whip or chop them out in a few turns, or we waste hammers. Also, Forges! Every single city needs a Forge, and it should be built as early as possible. Forges pay for themselves almost on the next building alone.

So next turnset, a few things. Spread Buddhism, and spread Judaism as well, for the OR bonus. Once we get Buddhism in some cities, get those Monastaries and Temples up ASAP for the free hammers.

We also need to finish off JC. Rome revolted on me, it comes out next turn, but we must ease that cultural pressure soon. The peace treaty just expired, so if it looks like we have enough troops, send em in. If it looks like we are a bit short, build some. We have forests, chop out some Maces and Trebs.

All in all though, this game is in the bag. I dont see how we can lose the Lib race, and just out-tech everyone with our massive cities. Those jungle cities are crazy good. Get some culture up there as well, I just spread Judaism to one.

Sorry for the lack of screenshots, but it was sort of a boring set, just building normal boring stuff. Remember, everyone can download the save and look over our situation and toss in their advice, in fact I highly encourage it. Doesnt take long to d/l the save, and cycle through our cities, and the info-screens.

Oh, I think I played an extra turn, so dont go by multiples of 10, LOL, sorry, I was over-anxious to get out of Anarchy from switching to Merc after Banking came in, free Specialists rock with Rep!! Our tech rate popped a pile after that Anarchy.

Nice! I just checked out the save and we are very comfortable tech wise, and despite running science at 50% were clocking good beakers. I did notice that we still don't have a lot of trades going on, we should try and get some of those furs even if its just for gold per turn unless there is a reason we are holding on to them.

I think we should tech gunpowder next, then use liberalism to help us on the way towards rifles, either taking Printing Press or if we can hold on replacable parts.

I agree lets kick JC off the continent, that leaves him with one island city that we can take out whenever we want. We probably will need a few more units.

Like you said game should be in the bag now.

I got it. Will play 10 soon.

First, I notice we need Philo for lib. Qin only has 60 gold now, so I'll wait for lib. I decide to go for economics.

Euhh, nothing else happened. I started some maces, a treb or two, but every city was building forges, which took a while. I finished Economics, got the merchant, but left it. I also got a GS in Yasod. I hate to say it, but I did nothing. Hopefully the forges will finish soon.

And Raggy declared on Sulie.

Okay Got it and checked the save, I think everything looks fairly straight forward. I'll carry on with the plan, probably won't attck JC this turnset but just assemble our troops in preparation.

Just a one thing...

1. So we have a greatmerchant and greatscientist ready and waiting to be used. What shall we use them for? scientist will part bulb PP or an Acadamy at Yasod could be sweet. Greatmerchant on a trade mission or settle? do we have an idea for a future wallstreet.

I am free at the moment so I can play in a few hours time.

:)

Well I'll play my 10 turns now, I'll build an acadamy in Yasod its our best science city, probably settle the Greatmerchant in one of our better commerce cities. I'll see what we can get for the spare furs, I'm looking at GPT right now as were not short of happy/health.

Coolio!

Don't know if this will be seen in time, but if we need more :), Qin and Sulei have Gold they are willing to trade, but we'll need to give up two resources. I believe they would take furs and some health resource, but I don't remember.

:mischief:

Still have played yet! got caught up in something else, but will be playing soon. I think were doing pretty well happywise at the moment, still plenty of room to grow into, health is getting a bit close here and there but health isn't such a big issue.

Okay, took me a little longer to play this than I thought! got caught up in other stuff! Now there was a pretty interesting turn of events this round and a pretty :smoke: decision by myself, so apologies in advance! Read on...

Inherited turn

Had a quick peek at the cities, adjusted a few specialists here and there to increase our GPT as were going to go bust soon! burned the Great Scientist building an acadamy in Yasod and assign an extra scientist there. Decided to settle the Great Merchant in Ankor Thom so I move him over there. Noticed something funky! Our new Ice/Tundra city is building a monument!

I switch to a workboat and change the citizen to work a hammer heavy tile.

Did a trade with Suilimen fur for 5 GPT and with Toku fur for 4 GPT, just noticed we also have a couple of gems we could trade but I leave them for now.

Start of Turnset

Turn 292

A few builds finish in cities, I'm focusing on Forges if cities don't have them or military for our campaign against JC for the new builds. Yasod starts on a Uni.

Turn 293

Gunpowder is in, I opt to research philosophy next, its only three turns might as well get it out of the way. Our Great Merchant is settled in Ankor Thom.

Turn 294

Urghh! :yuck: I knew this was going to happen. Qin asked to to declare on Ragnar, I refused probably a mistake but qin still freindly.

Groo_NCSG1_401.jpg

JC has built the shew paya thingy wonder, another one for us to steal of him

Rome revolts again, bleh! We have to sort out JC soon!

Groo_NCSG1_402.jpg

turn 295

Now Ragnar comes a knocking asking to join in his war, I don't think so!

Groo_NCSG1_403.jpg

Notre damm is complete. woot!

Now the Apostalistic palace is asking us to start a war???

Groo_NCSG1_404.jpg

I said no. I was going to defy but I hate defying votes... I just hope this doesn't explode in my face!

Turn 296

It exploded in my face. :mischief: Sorry! AP vote succeeds, should've defied the vote.

Groo_NCSG1_405.jpg

I officially hate the AP . I start to spread our troops out along our borders to make sure were protected and will try and sue for peace as soon as possible.

Turn 297

Troops distriuted. It doesn't look like suly will attack, he refuses to talk though so It may be a few turns before we can sue for peace, Qin is still at freindly though which is a relief.

Turn 298

Toku asks for open borders, I decline.

Revolt takes place in Antium... Oh! why now? :(

Groo_NCSG1_406.jpg

A few more unit builds are finished I'm just dialing up more units for the time bieng.

Turn 299

Takin beep breaths

Turn 300

Looks like JC's taking an opportunity to have a go at suli.

Groo_NCSG1_407.jpg

Turn 301

Suli still refuses to talk. :(

End of Turnset

Our main troops our spread over our western border cities, Isvarapura, Atium and Rome, with a couple of trebs in ravenna. I don't think Suli will attack us with everyone else in the world at war with him. You know I wouldn't be suprised if JC throws everything he has at suli he's desperate for any land he can get and it will make our attack on him an really easy if he's wasting his troops on suli.

I know I havn't really done much to help speed up the attack on JC (sorry) but we do need to take him out the cities we nabbed off him keep revolting!

some more bad news, MoM was built by China during my turnset, I don't remember when.

And some good news, we are 2 turns from Printing Press, and the none of the AI even have Paper yet. Some still don't have philosophy?

So, ummm... sorry about the mess up guys!

The Roster,

1. Krick19
2. Groogaroo - gone into hiding
3. Schwartz > UP!
4. S.ilver - on deck.
5. Rex rgis of Ter
6. Grandad
7. Bleys

And the save.

I think we need to take out JC now. We need it to save Rome, and it looks like his military sucks if that's all he's got to send against Suly.

Agreed, I think it shouldn't be too hard to take him, although our troops are spread out a bit.

It looks like my amazing skills with AP votes have scared off the rest of the team ;)

Well, the upside of not defying the vote means that the anger from Buddhist cities is gone. The downside is that we're now at war with Sulei, and we need to get out of that war before we go after JC.

Unfortunately, with the first revolt already done in those two cities, the next one will lose them (I think), so we MUST fortify them with troops now, and hit JC asap.
