NCSG1-Suryavarman II!

I think its a good time to start heading towards lib, would it make sense to settle our GG in rome? that would give us 9 lvl 3 units with theo or vassalage could pump out a bunch of CR3 trebs until free religion. I never know whether to spread out my GG's or focus them in one city.

I think garrisoning our border cities is a pretty big priority too.

Game is going well! its great to see how others play in detail, I feel I'm learning loads about how all you guys play.

GG should be settled in our HE city - even if we don't have it yet (I can't remember). GP in shrine city IMO. What do we want fro lib? Economics then on to corp for Wall Steet? PP also gives economy a boost as well as putting rifles closer. Or nationalism to get the Taj GA and then push on for SoL (one of my favorite wonders)?

I like the idea of another GA and a crack at SoL. Is the Mausolium of whats his face still up for grabs?

Well Rome has 2 GG's already, I think S.ilver originally suggeted it could be a nice HE/WP city, and it looks like it could be strong production wise, so I agree with that suggestion.

Sol is always nice to have in any situation, no arguments there.

I'm always boring with my choice of the Lib free tech nat/astro... obviously astro ain't too important with this map. I'm open to shooting for PP or Economics, or even chasing something a bit deeper if we have a good lead on the libralism race.

Replaceable parts at noble should be possible. A well timed GS can bulb most of PP for us tech the rest and finish off Lib.

If our future HE/WP city already has 2 GG then with Pentagon and baracks etc, thats 13XP ground troops, 15XP horse and 14XP navel - I think (please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm pretty tired ATM!).

Thats before any civics that add XP....

IMO 3 settled GG in one city isn't really worth it (despite being close to 17XP and another promo) and he should go to a 2nd high production site - maybe future iron works and or red cross city. With just a baracks ground troops start at 5XP with the GG. A good second military pump if you ask me. Future GGs should be saved and used to build military acadamys for faster production IMO - unless we need to replace our MASH unit or something similar.

Amsterdam is a good production city too, we just need to retool some of the cottages to something else, and it'll be very powerful. I'd agree with the GG there, and sticking IW/RC and using it to mass foot soldiers.

I like to keep mt IW city pumping late wonders (which I guess is the point of the IW!) but it can still have plenty of down time between wonders.
Having RC there means you can pump out some really useful units, fast. Also if RC is costal it can make a good naval base to - all medic transport fleet anyone?

Whats the Dams production potential? I may go and check this. Not sure its such a good IW city, but GG and RC there would be pretty sweet. It could get a millitary acadamy at some point.

I love the late game wonders..... 3GD is really good one for a large continent. This means IW should be on a river IMO.

Hmmm future stategic planning. Lush.

Maus of Maus is one of my favorite wonders, especially with the Mids, since I tend to generate more GP for GAs with them. However, we have already done our "1 GP" GA, so the next one would be 2.

SoZ is also a good wonder, especially on maps like this. If Qin gets it, we will be hurting in our war with him.

I wouldnt worry too much about the religious wonders like the SP, SM, SC, or UoS. Sure, they are nice, but I would rather put our wonder hammers into MoM, SoZ, ND, and Taj.

I am incredibly hooked on Golden Ages with MoM. My latest "go for it every game" addiction, LOL. I go through these phases. I am not worried about anything this game though, so whatever we get is good.

I may even have to skip this round. My 2 daughters plus my oldest grandson are here, its Spring Break for my youngest, and my oldest daughter wanted to stay with me for this week as well, so I could see my grandson more. Its all going very well, my kids are awesome, and my little grandson is cute as a button. 6 months old, learning to crawl, etc etc, but hes a serious handful, and I am exhausted. I still have to get the next NC off the ground, still havent finished the Freddy NC, or the Mansa LHC, and I am in the middle of the current Rome LHC (note, you guys definitely should check this one out, an IND leader with Marble, Stone, Copper and Iron on the island, allows for peaceful Wonder-spamming, go for Prince, trust me, you ALL can handle it, and a few of you would even kill Monarch)

I will let you know when my turn comes up, but Krick, be ready to take the ball if I have to skip. Its not that I cant play my turns, its that I really couldnt do a strong write-up. I do like the 2-monitor idea though, I may go with that. I need to make my strong Desktop my main Civ Playing computer soon, and use the Lap-top on the side for writeups. It cant handle late-game turns, and as skill and level increases, the games go longer and later, since you generally dont win "out of the gate" and need lots more turns to equalize at higher levels.

SoZ is also a good wonder, especially on maps like this. If Qin gets it, we will be hurting in our war with him.

Just to point out, I think we have SoZ, it was captured with Rome.

Have fun with your fam Bleys, I guess some things are actually more important than Civ4 :) (did I just say that?)

I guess that means NoblesClub5 might be delayed a bit, no problem. I'm just really, really, really impatient!!! :D

It's weird when a person you thought was about your age (20-25) turns out to have grandkids  I guess this is Civilization's forums, not Counter-Strike's forums ;)

I had something to say about the Statue of Zeus though. I often build it, but it only seems to work in a "denial" kind of way. It's an annoying wonder because when I build it myself, the AI seems to not give a crap. Am I wrong or their war weariness is like 1% of what the player suffers? So they'll get like one unhappy face after losing 1072154 units... Now with SoZ it's after 530000 units, ooooh... In comparison, I send my army against an AI that has SoZ and I have 3 unhappy faces in all my city at the first news that one of my infantrymen got a carpet burn on his knees.

So SoZ is just a way the AI makes me waste my hammers if I intend on war. Not a way that gives me any sort of advantage, I fear... of feel...

SoZ is already built in Rome, so we don't have to worry about it any longer.

The way war weariness works has a lot to do with WHERE the war is. So AIs attacking you when you have the SoZ will hurt them. By the same token, if you attack the AI with the SoZ, you are going to get hit by it as well. So yes, its a BIG "denial" wonder for sure, I HATE not getting it and attacking the AI that does.

Personally, I dont mind the Artist pollution. I am not a pure Great Person guy by any means. I take what I get, influencing the outcome as I can, but content with any GPerson, even if just to save for a future Golden Age.

And I have 45, and have 2 grandchildren :) Believe it or not, I bet the average age of the CFC forum members is much higher than many other games, especially FPS game. I was in a very strong Quake 2 clan a long time ago, and played Everquest for a long time as well, but these days I dont care for FPS shooter games and would rather not grind XP and gear in MMORPGs either.

@ Bleys

Yer I used to play Call of Duty online back in the day. It was pretty fun but there always some git who will cap you every time and kill the fun! Sadley my PC can't handle any new FPS but I love the more coop site of say, the Battlefield seriers. I guess its more the working with other peoiple aspect I like.

Also Madscientist is 45 with kids, and I rember a while back in the tips for begginers sticky seeing a post from someo old lady who was 70 or some thing! Diverse.

Anyway back to the game. If I don't get to play to day it is very unlikely I'll be able to play, as I'm going to Scotland (visting a couple of mates in Edinburgh and then getting out in the mountains for some walking ;) ) on thursday and won't be back till monday. I could probably play tomorrow afternoon but I wouldn't be able to write a proper report and since this is meant to be a bit like a story I won't do that.

I post a propper skip later if I can't play.

So if you have the SoZ and start the war do you not get the WW benifit against your enermy? That's totally wack.

grandad:
It doesn't matter who starts the war, WW is dependent on WHERE the battles are fought (your territory or theirs)

Since it's sort of on topic.. I'm a huge rts-addict in addition to civ (or, used to be) I played every game in the age of empires series, right from the beginning. Never got into the FPS world ;)

I believe WarWeariness is also effected by the percentage of culture on the square so if your fighting the english in their territory but the square is only 60% theirs then they will recieve 40% warweariness, or something along those lines.

SoZ is good just to keep it outta the AI's hands its also one of the wonders that has an effect on your powergraph, I think? Not sure if it has that big an effect.

When I build SoZ It always goes in a unit pump city when its having a break from units to avoid the Great Artist pollution, unless of course I'm going for a cultural vic.

Ok heres my offical skip. Sorry guys I just won't have time now - I'm going out to have a pint with a beautiful young lady (horray!).

Good luck team!

Have a nice time in scotland! I've never been, even though its less than a days journey away for me! Should really make the effort one day.
