Need Blender help

I've made a unit model on Blender and when I try to export it as a .nif file, I get the message "Nonetype object has no attribute: Image File". What the heck does that mean?

before export you must call texture...
UV Face Select / UV Face Editor new texture.. save texture and after in object mode click on Shading button and on the right you can see Image fold and "load" button. Here you load your texture :)

Okay, this is a different model I'm working on. Now I'm getting the message "cannot find a chain of NiAVObject blocks".

Translation?

you are making on animations?

if not you need basic blender manual

EDIT: export animations from blender to civ4 nif is in this time impossible :(

I'm not making animations for this model. But anyway...

"cannot find a chain of NiAVObject blocks"

Is this error message somehow related to the object's keyframes? Just drop me a hint as to what this is talking about.

Okay, I'll need more than a hint.

It was idea... I made 3 years many buildings in Blender but this message never seen :(
In one of twenty cases Blender rejected make export. In this case I´m making export to the *.obj and after I import "obj" to the some existing Nif file. It is reserve possibility how manage it.

generally true is:
you must have meshes, UV layer, set map to UV, texture and Normals recalculate outside...
After you can make export

your problems seems to be caused by the armature, without i could export the model. So if you want your model to be linked to an armature try to delete the old one, import and link again. [Or export without and link to an animtion in the nif.]
