Could anyone recommend a good book on the European Union (for a book review assignment for an economics of the EU class)?

Your recommendation will stand the highest chance of being accepted if it satisfies as many of the following conditions as possible:

1. I respect you intellectually.
2. The book is published by a reputable press
3. The author has relevant credentials (so no random moron journalists or talk show hosts or whatever)
4. The focus of the book is on the proposed EU constitution (this is not a strict requirement but would help lighten my workload by being applicable across multiple projects)
5. The book isn't insanely long
6. The book is well written, in English
7. You can point me to laudatory reviews by experts in the field which the book addresses.
8. The book is economic in focus. This is an important one!

You should simply read the constitution, pardon, the constitutional treaty. It's already book-length. At least it's not insanely long as a book - it just feels like it is, when you read it.

Of course I won't even try to find serious laudatory reviews...

Both economic and on the new constitution....yeah good luck finding that.

Fifty, how come you weren't able to find a book at your university library?

1. I respect you intellectually.

Why are asking here, then?

Those are kind of hard to satisfy (are there any well written economic books?). A quick search on my university library turned up these results:

Europe after the 'no' votes : mapping a new economic path by Patrick A. Messerlin
Designing the new European Union by Helge Berger and Thomas Moutos
European Union and the Euro revolution by M. Dutta

Hope that helps.
