Hawk Chieftain said:Some questions for lurkers:
How can I get my mainland cities to use the Incense on India? I've built a Harbor on both sides, but none of my French cities have access to Incense.
Where should I explore next? I know that there are other civs out there, but I haven't found them yet.
Other than military, what should I have my cities build? I almost have all of French cities have built libraries. Is there anything critical I need to build?
What should I research next? I'm thinking of going for The Sistine Chapel.
Hi Hawk! Here are my 2 gold pieces worth of advice ...
Trade route: Two part answer, from looking at the 150BC save.
First, you need to complete a harbor on the other island. Amiens
doesn't have a harbor, and the one in Dijon is not done yet.
Next, you need to be able to safely travel over *sea* tiles.
Normally, that has to wait for the discovery of Astronomy, but you
have the Great Lighthouse. That probably should suffice.
Exploring: With the GLighthouse, you can now cruise around the sea
tiles to the east of China and Japan, as well as some of the waters
just west of Bengal. I like to use the keypad keys, and follow the
little fingers of sea tiles, as they extend out into the ocean tiles.
Build Next: Military is good, even though PTW doesn't have unit support
under Republic. You will want settlers, to found more cities on India's
island. All the cities over there will be pretty corrupt, but you can
grow them to size 6 and hire scientists. You should be thinking about
a Forbidden Palace -- Dijon might be a good choice, so that you can
reduce the corruption on India's ^H^H^H^H your new island.
I always like building marketplaces in any city above size 5,
for the happiness multipliers. I almost always build harbors in coastal
cities, even corrupt ones, so that they can support themselves.
In your case, with so much water, you will want ships.
