Need help

I need to know how to abandon a city. I need to build another one beside it so I can get a resource that's in anthor civ's territory. I have tried everything I can think of, but I dont know how to abandon it.

If anyone can answear this I'd appreciate it.

Get the cities pop. down to 1 and then build a worker. Make sure you have sold all the improvements.

ok, I must be really stupid, but how do you sell improvments?

Open up the city, right-click on the improvement, and choose sell. Remember, you can only sell one improvement per city/per turn.
