Need ideas for new designs

I am a bit bored of my latest city design, and seek yet another change. I have been looking at the cities in the game Age of Wonders and i kind of like them, although they too have their problems. But i will be needing more ideas, so if you have any pics post them please The best kinds of pics are screenshots from games with 3d cities But i would welcome seperate models as well if you have them. Recently Sandris gave me a ton of stuff, but i need more

Mediteranian, Arabian, Western European..

Well, as I understand it, you're basically asking people to inspire you. Unless someone would like a particular set of city graphics, why would he invest his time scouring the Internet or his games to find images which you might inspire you?

Ty Wyrm I will probably download google sketchup again; i remember that it had some features Bryce does not have, and is quite easy to use.

But i am looking for images of complete cities, and i do not think that i can find many such things in the sketchup warehouse..

But as for pictures of fantasy cities, I can't help you much. I don't normaly look for that.

Can i open sketchup files in Bryce?

No, you must export them as 3ds from sketchup. You have to play around with the settings a lot so that you don't export the vertex's as objects as well. I found that out the hard way.

Well I'm sure you have tried a google search on 'fantasy city pictures' or other city pictures ... brings up a lot of interesting things at least for me.

I'd like to see a Mauryan era Indian city set. This would differ quite a bit from the other sets available. Its key architectural feature is the predominance of barrel-vaulted roofs. Here's a reconstruction -

If you do decide to go in this direction I can provide lots more images of individual buildings within this architectural style.

These shots are from AoE: Asian Dynasties. Lose the gold domes & it gives a fairly similar concept. Maybe someone who has the game can take some more screenies.

If that's not exactly to your taste, another possible direction would be an Industrial/Steampunkish Indian set. A little Art Nouveau, a little "Sultan's Elephant". Like the above, but with grime, smokestacks & some other elements like these (from a game called Arcanum):

Since this second style could be more Mughal/Anglo-Indian it could probably do duty for steamy Middle Eastern cities as well.

I can, of course, give you more images to work from for this option as well.

Sorry I didn't ask sooner: there's been alot of interest lately in cities for the Old West; Goldfool recently did a set. I'm looking for a western town that grows into a San Francisco or a Denver of the 1880's. I'll also be needing U.S. Army Frontier Forts, southwestern (adobe) towns, northwestern cities and generic Native American (several of which exist already). I'd be interested to see what you'd do with any of these.

I'm still looking for a good Russian cities set. Also: European Baroque, and Soviet-era eastern bloc cities would be good.

Those are some great images Blue monkey Only i am not too sure if i can create such buildings. Moreover i am asking mostly for a city design (complete placement of buildings in such a way that the result is looking like a city set), not so much for individual buildings. So if you have pics of complete designs i am still interested

To the people asking for cities: currently i am not taking any requests, i lack the time

Do you want more buildings in each set? I am thinking of possibly creating a set of all unique ones (nothing repeating itself). Of course this takes more time, so i wont be able to create as many cities as i used to.

Also i thought of increasing the overall size of buildings. Here are two i have already made, do you like them? They are not centerpieces, merely small houses.

Perhaps Pounder can use him for his roads as well

Sandris, I really like (and use) your 3D cities and I don't think, you should change your style toooooo much.
But: I agree that it may look a little bit boring, if a lot of cities have the same buildings/houses exept the centerpiece.
Some diversion is certainly welcome - like this two beautiful houses, which i like very much.
Just keep on with it...!
