New Alternate tech (60AD)

As we now have Map Making, Polytheism is currently our only alternate tech selected. I suspect we will make Monotheism our next goal, (see the New Tech Goal poll), which would make Polytheism part of that path. I know what we ultimately do choose for a new tech goal will effect what we want for an alternate, but please start posting your ideas here so we have a start in case an alternate is needed over the weekend.
 
Leo's would be useful (I mean Leonardo's, not Leowind's btw ;)) and so I propose we go for Engineering as an alternative. After this, I'd like to see us push for Democracy. Sun Tzu's would be useful too, if anyone'd like to go for Feudalism. But your vote only counts if you spell Feudalism right! :)
 
At the moment, I'm leading the Science Advisor poll. If that is still the case when the polls close, I have a lovely comprehensive poll planned and ready to go!;)

I want to avoid the situation I had when I was given 6 or 7 options, none of which anyone had ever expressed a prefernce to researching!
 
Leo's is much more more important than sun tzu's so i think we should head in that direction after mike's. I would be wise not to ignore ST's altogether though as it is at its most useful when combined with leo's, to 'veteranize' upgraded units.

Teehee. I told them that democracy never works. Maybe we should form a splinter group, stage a coup and run the autocracy game!



Actually, I like the idea of going for invention. Not only is it on the path to Leo's but it allows us to build King Richards - if possible. Building that in LC, and mining the iron would allow us pretty impressive production. Turn that into caravans, and it may really speed other wonders. A risk though....

When are we going to mine the iron BTW? :)

I would definately agree with that, there is more productivity to be had by doing this.
The city may also need irrigation to enable mining whilst supporting/growing the populace.
I think Gary believes the fact that he was re-elected confirms that we should build F4 filler!!
While im not against this in principle I belive the settler would be better improving/transforming land for the moment, then use it to make the city later on when the land is much more productive for the existing cities.
I think this will result in quicker production of wonders.
