New American Leaders

^ Good guess, actually. He's high up on the list for future inclusion, however this guy is a popular American "leader" who wasn't actually a president... You'll see.

EDIT: On another note, I will probably remove the individual downloads for each leader, as they've all been merged into one "American Leaders modpack."

Hey Gaius (and Dutchking),

Good job. This looks like some nice work.

Just curious (I can't really download and look at this b/c I'm surfing at work, which is what most of my Civ time consists of lately,) but how did you code the leaders "personalities"? Like is TR (or GWB) more likely to up and declare war? Would you get a higher diplomatic bonus for running, say, Universal Suffrage, with Reagan?

Well, I haven't heard word from Gaius in...2 weeks now. We think his computer died, but I really don't know, if he doesn't show up for another month or so I'll take on the role of finishing/updating (BTS) this project. But that's an extreme, I really have no idea where Gaius is, so for now the status of this project is on hold.

Yes, there will be a complete update of the leaders for BtS (all animated), and I will probably just remove the old Warlords version after that. Last I heard Dutchking was working on Jefferson (using Frederick as a base), and the initial results looked very promising. We got kind of sidetracked there with the 3D Patton for about two months, but I must say it was well worth it. The full mod with XML and diplomacy music should be out soon.

I'm curious, what was used as a base for Reagan? I'd figure Julius Caesar, or possibly Roosevelt.

Suppose we'll ever get a Nixon? It'd be kinda funny to have a game with Nixon and Mao. That and Nixon's face comes pre-exagerrated and cartoonish for easy leaderhead creation.

Well, you'll have to consult Dutchking about the art specifics. Suffice it to say that he's a staunch liberal and does not care for Reagan too much, but I hoped to be "fair and balanced" about things by possibly including Clinton as well.

People, people, how I am supposed to get my top-flight modpacks out to the tens, if not (a) hundred of adoring fans who eagerly await them, if I can't get top-flight flavor graphics in a timely fashion????

(Oh well. I was hoping to see how some of the other mentioned leaders turned out. I guess I'll just check back later.)

jkp1187: I was toying with TR's traits when I originally made it, as he is really so many things: imperialistic (transformed America's power), aggressive (think San Juan Hill), financial (trust-buster)... When I created the list, I tried to use combos that aren't already in warlords, but I'm thinking about changing many of them, both for TR and the others. I'd also like to see better favorite civics, but I can't really think of anything that especially fits TR.[/IMG][/URL]

How about environmentalism as his favorite civic, considering that he was well ahead of his time with the creation of Yellowstone National Park and the swift executive act to create Muir Woods national monument?

I figured it'd be more Nationhood maybe, since he was kind of a warmonger. Really, both could fit. Environmentalism or Nationhood.

Also, I still can't wait to see Jefferson and Reagan. It kinda bugs me having to play as either the guy who stuck the Japanese in camps and ruined the US economy, the guy who slaughtered the south and removed habeus corprus will controlling all the media in the union, etc. Washington was a great president, though they completely nerfed his traits making playing as him really hard.

Besides, Jefferson is -perfect- for Civ4. Think about it, how often is it one leader can suddenly gain that much land for his country? Just give him traits that will aide in peaceful domination, Free Market civic, and a "I don't want to talk to you guys, go away" personality.
