New civilizations are not displayed on the main screen

I play Civ4 BTS, 3.17 with the latest version of Better AI, compatible with 3.17.

When I contact a new civilization, it is not displayed on the main screen in the bottom right corner. It is present in a diplomacy screen and I can speak to it. But it isn't shown on the main screen that I have a contact.
It wouldn't be so much a problem but it looks like information on what AI is researching doesn't display anywhere else.

Can anyone help?

I guess best idea is to patch to 3.19 and use a BetterAI version made for 3.19...

isn't it just that the score board is disabled? Check the buttons on the top of the mini-map, one of them toggle the score board.
