I think that those new civs are very important:

Inca, Carthage, Ethiopia, Arabia, Spain, Celts, Vikings, Mongolia and Srivajaya.

My list:
Incans, Mayans, Spanish, Moors, Vikings, Mongols, Phoenicians, Celts. I thought about maybe the Canadians, eh, just so people would have another young civ to complain about besides the Americans.

See my "PREDICTIONS" post in the main thread for the expansion for an explanation, but the new civs will be:

Spanish, Inca, Vikings, Celts, Mongols, Turks (Arabs too controversial at the moment), Martians, and then either the Dutch, the Maya, the Sioux, or the Portuguese.

I guess Carthage is an option.

I think we need a South Pacific civ and a South American civ.

From the South Pacific we could have the Polynesians or Melanesians. Their UU could be some primitive boat that can be built without any tech being invented. It can carry one unit and cost no more than a warrior. Leader? No idea...

From South America I suggest the Incas or Brazil. I have no idea for leaders or UU.

I don't know about some of those  but the

Inca, Ethiopians, Celts, Vikings, Mongols, and Carthaginians should be included.
Perhaps the Souix, and the Spainish as well.

My guesses at the 8! new civs...

It's going to be (completely sure):
1- Vikings (Europe) (they were in civ2)
2- Spanish (Europe/Medi) (civ2)
3- Mongols (Asia) (civ2)
4- Incas/Mayans (South America) (only one)

Not totally sure:
5- Carthage (Africa/Medi) (civ2 too)
6- Turks/Arabs (Middle East/Arabian Pen.) (don't think we'll get both of them)

The last ones:
7- One African Civ more (My knowledge of african civs is bad )
8- That leaves space for another Asian/(maybe pacific) Civ (dont know which -maybe Korea -maybe one of the small ones)

The portuguese seems too close to the Spanish to make it. I don't think we'll get the dutch or celts either, because so many Euro-civs are already in the game.

BTW: That "Srivajaya"-civ or what u called it will NOT be included. Who are they?, never heard of them.:D

Squirrel, you are right about the Polynesians.
I would pick the Inca over Brazil though.

Well, my personal favourite new civs would be the Celts and the Canadians, though I highly doubt the latter of the two will be included. I'd expect another African tribe or two; perhaps the Ethiopians and/or the Carthaginians. The Mongols and Spanish would seem to be locks. Another Middle Eastern civ - Turks? - seems a good bet - same with another Americas tribe (Incans/Mayans). The Vikings would be nice...likewise for the Eskimos :D

The Celts would be nice but moreso the Picts.

Then I would have more fun wiping out the English:D :D :D

I do not think you should really put down Arabs as a Civilization I mean use a country name. What about Islam? Wasn't Islam the name of the untied country of Arabs in the middle ages? As for the Incas did they have enough cities to be put in the game or would the city names just have to be fiction?

Forgot my vote
1. Austria
2. Spain
3. Mali
4. Turkey
5. Mogul Empire
6. (something in the South Pacific)
7. (something in South America)

The Incas ruled an empire stretching from the tip of Modern Bolivia all the way down to the southern part of Chile in their hey day.:p although most of their power was concentrated in and arond modern Peru

I was not refuring to their streach of power. What I was saying is that we have no real names for most of thier cities. They are all based on what modern cities they are around, kinda like saying their empire went into Chile and was centered around modern-day Peru. They did not call it Peru or Chille, we do not know what they called it.

I shall have to conduct a bit of research to confirm that or else Firaxians will go nuts trying to come up with suitable Inca names for cities. Or they might just put names of Modern South American cities, hoping no on will notice:rolleyes:

I do not think Sid has ever been to concerned about weather or not some of these cities are real, they just want it to sound feasible. Was I right about the capital of India?

Check the Americans in 4000 B.C fthread

I don't know if anyone has understand this but the civs are supposed to represent many civilization. For example, the Mongols are in civ3. As the chinese. One of their great leaders is Gengis Khan and they have the riders who should be the mongol UU.

So the the 8 new civs will be: spanish (latin culture), celt or vikings (northens civilizations).

I'm pretty sure of these 2. For the rest, you have to proceed by elimination:

No more Native american civs (they are already represented by the Iroquois).

No more europeans civs (too many of them).

A south american civs (Inca or Maya).

The koreans or the Siam (the 2 most importants civs outside India, China, Japan)

The polynesan (so all the continent will be represented)

Carthage (only greco-roman civ I can think of)

Turks (important middle-east civ)

One rooms left... Israel maybe (the old one ).

1. Spain
2. Vikings
3. Mongols
4. Inca
5. SE Asian civ, Siam?
6. Carthage
7. Celts
8. Polynesians

I suppose one of these will be replaced by a relatively meaningless African civ to balance gameplay. I can't see the Koreans making it in. Yes, they've had a long and storied past, but haven't had much effect on the world outside of China and to a lesser extent Japan. The Sioux won't make it in because we already have the Iroquois. The Turks would be a good addition, but that area of the world is already very crowded.
