New Civilizations

I would also like to see some mystical civz added with an ability to play with or without them .. atlantis etc.

That would be pretty cool, I think. Just like the Antarans in MOO2.

And lastly I prefer that the civz do not have the name of current countries .. no offence meant to anyone but I associate way to many things with countries to really enjoy it in a game, I'd much rather see 'proisers' (mis spelling I guess) instead of germans and so on.

There is already an option for that. In Civ3 you name your civ whatever you want when you first set up the game.

... Québecois are redundant: ...Québecois are included as France....

I think that the Québecois would be a nice addition to the game. They are just as different from France as the US is from Britain in many different aspects. For example, dialect/accent, culture, history, etc

@diogènes183 : Did you go to Scotland and Austria ? I did. And trust me, they are pretty diferent from England and Germany. Just an exemple : food is good in Scotland :D But there are scots here to explain better than me ;)

I met a lot of people from Québec, and they are really different from french people. Much more different than I am ! No doubt they are a nation. I agree with Manverulin about that point.

I also went to Creta three years ago and to Athens two years ago. The Minoan civilization is as different from "classical" Greece than Egypt or Phenicia. An evidence is we can read ancient greek, but we can't with some minoan texts. Actually I think Minoan are THE missing civ, followed by Ethiopia.

*incredulous*
Quebecois? In Civilization?
...

I mean, honestly, so far all of the possible Civs have actually BEEN nations. Not just a cranky subset of another country.
If Quebec separated, and maybe had 50 years of history, even then, it wouldn't be noteworthy enough to earn itself a name in Civilization, especially before some REAL nations, like Thailand, Vietnam, or Canada itself.

There are few things for sure...They should add few (at least one) african civ, and at least one south american civ...Other than Incas there is no south american civs...Brazil, or Argentina natives would be fine...And also, they could include some Australian tribes...Europe is just packed..there is no need for more european civilizations...I'd like to see one more Southeastern Asian civ...
here is the summary of the civlizations i'd add:
1. Australian Aboriginals
2. south american civ (brazil, argentina aboriginals)
3. African civ...(ethiopia)
4. Southeastern Asian civ, preferably Vietnam due to historical significance

Scotland != England (a Scot will want to fight you if you say otherwise)
Celts != England
Celts == Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Britany (province in NW France), Gauls (assimiliated)

I know Germany and Austria are different (as are France and its former colonies) with their own unique history, etc. My point is that they are very similar, ethnically similiar, speaking dialects of a common language, etc. Similar enough that you could arguably call them one civ.

The developers will asses priorities very carefully. Given time and money constraints, were can only expect to see X amount of civs (X =? 40 or less maybe). Which means choices will have to be made, some civs can be brought in, many will be left out. The fact is, when you include existing civs and add civs that definitely ought the be included in the next game (Ethiopia, Isreal, Minoans, Inuit, Khemer, Tibet, etc), there really isn't any room left for "nice-to-haves."

2.) south american civ - Incan - Myan ~ already exist

The Maya were most certainly not in South America. They lived in modern Mexico, Belize and Guatemala in northern Central America.

Anyway:

African Civs

Kingdom of Ethiopia
Kingdom of Songhay (or Mali or Ghana, but Songhay was bigger)
Sultanate of Zanzibar

Asian Civs

Khmer Empire
Tibet

Middle-Eastern Civs

Kingdom of Israel
Assyrian Empire
Kingdom of Phoenicia (Cut Carthage from the current list.)

American Civs

Tupi Confederation
Sioux Nation

European Civs (Lowest Priority)

Grand Duchy of Poland and Lithuania
Republic of Venice

The creators of civ games should really consider a european mode...where you could chose all the european civs.

well i would like to see the irish and im not biast cos im part irish but in medieval times, they had great influence in western europe mainly fighting the english but were also involved in the napoleonic wars i believe. (i realise the celts are sorta irish and scot but i dont like them) Other than that its gotta be australia as they are the main power of a continent and have vast influence in the pacific with alot of history of conflict.

Hebrews, Assyrians, Australia, Canada and a modern South American Civ like Brazil or Mexico would work for me.

Just to be different I'll say Cuba but then I suppose baseball would have to be added...

As every civ name can be changed, I don't really see a point to this thread.
Except for UUs of course, but then I dislike the UU altogether.
Like having a tank while everyone else has cavalry isn't a UU of its time?

Pardon my ignorance but what is CSA? I'm sure I'll smack myself when I get the answer...

Something dawned on me recently:

People talk about there being a lot European civs in the game but there is only one Slavic civ in the game, Russia.

Maybe should be two slavic civs, out of fairness.

Candidates:
Poland
Bulgaria
Serbia

Although not very influential today, all three were important at points in history.

Pooh. Here's how it should be: :)

Tribes at the start of the game:

Hittites
Indoranians
Greek
Italians
Armenians
Germans
Albans
Slavons
Tocharians
Celts
Balts

In this particular game the Hittites and the Tocharians get eliminated early. The Indoranians fight a civil war splitting into two: Indians and Iranians. Same with the Italians who split into the Oscans, the Umbrians and the Latins. The Latins eliminate the Oscans and the Umbrians. Elsewhere the Celts get unhappy and start fighting among each other splitting into the Gauls, the Irish and the Brythons. The Gauls get wiped out.

Iranians lose their capital and the civ breaks into the Avestans, the Persians and the Scyths. The Scyths get conquered and are out of the play. Everybody ignores the Avestans 'cause nobody wants their tiny and poor plot. :)

The Latin empire starts a war with the Germans. The German government collapses and two distant colonies, the Goths and the Scandinavians declare independency. The war continues and the Anglofrisians split from the Germans. Finally the Germans manage to take revenge and with the fortunes of war changing now two Latin colonies, the French and the Spanish show the boot to the Latin emperor and form their own civs. Later the Germans lose the colonies of the Saxons and the Flemish who go their own way.

The Scandinavians have no-one to fight with so they start squabbling among themselves splitting into the Icelandians, the Norse and the Danes. The Goths get eliminated. The Balts are too close and get drawn into the mess splitting into the Lithuanians and the Lettish. The Lettish get wiped out.

As if their isles aren't small enough the Scots declare independency from the Irish and the Brythons split into the Welsh and the Bretons. The Saxons conquer the Bretons. The Anglofrisians split into the English and the Frisians. The English conquer the Saxons and later the Welsh and the Scots.

A distant English colony descends into civil disorder because of too much corruption. They declare their independency and form the American tribe...
