I didnt have time to think this rework thoroughly during proposal stage and was forced to withdraw it a day ago but i think i came to some understanding of what this rework should look like, please take a look and leave your comments and maybe i will propose it again the next session.

Dutch East India Company

Starts the game with founded Dutch East India Company corporation. Doesn't have a Franchise limit.
International :trade: Trade routes yield :c5food: Food and :c5production: Production to its owner (you) as if they were internal (being affected by internal trade route modifiers as well as international) .

The main difference with other corporations would be the possibility of choosing your Corporate identity among the existing corporations (except from the first one, the first one should be chosen depending on starting resources in your capitals range) every era throughout event system (except Hexxon refinery, you can choose it once in industrial era and later), and having both +100% to Land trade routes length and +100 to sea routes length as a base. After changing your corporate identity, your offices should either change all at once or be optional for building , destroying the former office after their construction. Existing Franchises should also be changed all at once after the identity was changed, or give +1 to all monopoly resources as a base if its not possible technically.Corporate benefits should be shifted to buildings you can obtain in Antiquity or/and Middle ages.

This way Netherlands would not be as dependent on others players favor, but always had a choice to trade with CS.

I also wanted to introduce unique naval trade unit that would have had 0 trade slot cost, 100% sea trade length but give 3-4 times less yields and that would appear whenever usual trade unit is built, but i think that would be either too much or make Netherlands an easy target as we would have to get rid of ones of its UUs.I think it may also be neat to make franchises in addition to offices to be able to spread others franchises but it may be too op as well, idk

this is kind of reminiscent of my chola mod, which gives a bonus to all cities on empire for each foreign city you have completed an international trade route to, like a franchise bonus.
 
I think it's an interesting idea. Even though I don't play multiplayer, it does seem like a problem to me that the Dutch basically just have no UA if no one will trade with them.

Why ban internal trade routes though? Seems like they're already objectively worse than international trade routes for the Dutch. The only situation when they would use them is if they were sanctioned. With no internal trade routes if they get sanctioned they just lose.

I just dont really know how to balance it out, this is the only reason
 
Right so you have a corporation, but the bonuses of the corporation change each era based on your choice?
That seems a bit frequent.

Perhaps you could do it like "build your own corporation"
So at certain techs you trigger an event that let's you pick a certain part: the founder effect, the resource bonus, the franchise bonus, the office bonus
From a list. They could be based on the existing ones or you could come up with something completely new.
 
I play on Emperor but had a goal this summer to win my first Deity game, and I played as the Dutch after reading he was pretty good on this forum.

I have really mixed feelings because I won but it was kind of unsatisfying, you just get stupid amounts of culture for very little work. I somehow led the Deity AI in culture all game (I normally play emperor and come back from behind). Checking the tourism screen, I have double what any other civ has made in culture at industrial era. Double, over civs that have more cities than me!

This is to say that I think the Dutch UA should be changed and a unique corporation sounds very cool
