New era atomic era

I found alot of times my units just being built and then I could upgrade them a few turns later and I haven't even used them or got them promotions. Sucked...

I have this concern about great war infantry. Infantry comes one tech later. I guess i will enjoy the temp power from upgrades, but I'm not sure I will build them.

This is a valid argument however if that was the new era, then the chances of reaching the post-industrial world are even slimmer. Plus with the smaller eras, there is a decent chance you will reach it

That's a good point. I guess I'm a little leery since I either win before getting too far into modern or when playing space/cultural, I use all of those GS to blow through everything.

If I count correctly, you need 10 more techs for a Science victory in G&K than you did in Vanilla. There are on only 4 techs you don't need for a Spaceship in G&K. And Research Agreements now start at Education, so it is going to take longer.

You need two techs to get to Infantry from GW Infantry. And you can do that, or pick two different techs and get Fighters, Bombers, Machine Guns and Anti-Tank.

I never get this far in Civ games(love the ancient through renaissance eras though), the new 'modern' eras seems interesting though, I am gonna force myself to finish a game for once!

The one after Atomic era is "Information Era", which sounds like a chance for espionage to shine. I'm sure nukes will always pack a wallop though, even after shelters.

Edit: Turns out shelters (under Telecom in the first column of Information Era) cuts population loss due to nukes by 75%. But that 25% remaining is probably still significant when a lot of nukes are on the table.

Seriously? 10 more techs? That's interesting. I didn't see anything in Arioch's site about nerfing GS though.

Diplo victory got shoved back, its all the way in the last column on the whole tree. Between that and quest/ coup randomness Diplo victory may get far more annoying.

As long as we can avoid the cheesy diplo win, then all is good. But just to clarify, are you saying that the UN is in the last group of techs? I know the info is there but as stated a while back, the tech tree is what hooked me on Civ and that will be the first thing I will do in G&K.

Stealth is at the bottom last of the second last tree lol

Reading the manual now and GS has indeed been nerfed. Boy, games are going to be loooonnnngggg.

Also, Recycling Centers at Ecology. Their effect? Provides 2 aluminium, with a maximum of 5 in your empire.

hmmm...
