New Forum Game: History Rewritten Development Thread

People in glass houses. People in glass houses. I'm pointing out why should ilduce even start this game, while there are games just like this out there.

There are hardcore IOTs. NES.

This is using IOT as a base and adding in Ilduce's ideas.

I have no issue with NES or even the new IOT. Personally, I like this version better than IOT V so far, but that's just me, and if I am given the opportunity I'll play in both.

I think this one does something no other game I've seen does. Also, why do you need to be a devil's advocate. He wants to start a game, he can!

Ilduce- can you respond to my proposition. I know Cull's bashing the game is making it tough to see. I'll quote it if needed.

EDIT: X-Posted Ilduce again!

Unsubscribed from thread.

Your whole argument is that you have the right to start something new. Even though there are games like this already out there to play.

If you would like to argue, go to Off Topic.

Even though I'd like a link to the games similar to this one, the fact is, we don't need an argument! I'm gonna play, as are at least a few other people who have said they are.

I want to make another suggestion, and volunteer to do the job (Since according to you you suck at writing.)

At the end of each turn, a short, interesting story would be written summing up all the events that happened that day in an interesting way. This would have no tangible affect on the game, just for role-playing and to detail all the events so that people don't have to read through the spam if they'd rather not. And, for entertainment.

I'll volunteer to do this job.

Any response Ilduce?

I found it

I agree with that, as the name of this story is history rewritten. If you decide to do it, I ask you pm the story to the gms, for them to edit it were needed and post it in the forum. This will be the second time I am going to say this, but based on the complexity of this, it will probably need multiple GMs, please post here if you want to be a GM.
And I do suck at writing (at least thats what Arya and my English teacher think)

OK, I agree to PM it to the GMs.

Also, I said "You say you suck at writing" because A: I haven't ever seen you try B: Saying "You suck at writing" could offend some people.

I'm actually aspiring to become a writer so I'm pretty good IMO.

Good point, the mods might see it as flaming me.

Probably, even though it would be absurd considering you did say it about yourself.

However, I don't like to tell people they suck anyway, and I haven't seen any of your writing so...

Back on topic:

I would suggest doing what they did in the IOT thread and putting one group of things for vote at a time, of course skip the stuff you don't want up for vote

I'm not sure what we're discussing at the moment

We are discussing whether we will play in the game or not.

I will probably start the voting on a few of the rules on August 16th

Well, I'm absolutely playing of course!

I'm guessing Omega will too (My guess is he was initially upset because if Mathalamus joined he'd start out the best like he's always wanted.) I'm gonna invite Tanicius in a sec. You should probably invite anyone who you think is interested.

I also have a proposition:

I don't really want regulations on diplomacy in thread. While PMs should CERTAINLY be legal, for people like me, if people are willing to talk about diplomacy in thread, its interesting for me and a lot of people. I think posting should be unlimited. The ONLY rules for spam should be if it becomes a big "You suck" "No you suck" schoolyard brawl with no game value. However, if it has relevance to the game, it should be allowed. I will most likely have time to go through it, and it could make more interesting stuff for the stories each update.

Of course, you would have the ability to tell them to shut up if you need to, and I could tell them not to post WHILE I'm writing the update, however, overall it should be free talk.

EDIT: I would make a list in the OP of the players who have said they are definitely in, and a separate list of people who might be in.

There will be no regulations. I like reading the diplomacy posts of arguing about alliances, negotiating peace, etc. there isn't a cost to make diplomacy (as some people will pm others anyway), but signing alliances, defensive pacts etc will cost money. this is mainly to prevent them from happening early on.

Edit: For this reason I will not have the maximum 5 posts per day in the thread. However if you want to post something that is off-topic, put it in a spoiler marked OT.

If we are going for ultra-realism, we could forbid diplomacy with players until you contact them. I'll expand on this if you like. At the very least make official treaties impossible until then.

If you are going to forbid contact until contact in thread, you would have to have all communications forwarded to you though. If you could play completely unbiased and only use the info to enforce the rules, this would work, but realistically its probably almost impossible.

You could have a cabinet of GMs and make all communications PMed to SOMEBODY on the cabinet, then you would just pick someone neutral in the affair, this could work.

As for off topic in spoilers, I think this is a good compromise that everybody can accept. I'd just like to say, if someone's entire post is on topic except one line and they forget to spoiler, leave them alone, or at the very least give warnings, don't ban 'em right away.

If the entire post is off topic, you can be stricter, but still, don't ban someone for one offense.

You could have a cabin

For the purpose of this is a game. You will be allowed to talk to people in the game. But you will need to have contact with them if you want to sign alliances with them. Alliances will also be enabled via a civic tech. Also it would get quite annoying if you want to pm another play and the GM doesn't log on in time to forward it to the player.

i don't ban for one offense (especailly because I will probably be the first to commit the offense ) But I (or another GM) will send you a pm asking you to edit the post and put it in a spoiler.

OK.

You should need contact to sign any deals.

Spoilered for off topic:

Spoiler :
Anyone who's also in the Brawl game vote here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=373546

Depending on how this pans out, you can count me as a strong possibility, also I feel there should be a Chinese starting NPC too.
