Hey all. I seem to have this bad problem:
When I start a new game of Civ 5, it crashes. Old games can load, and I can start new multiplayer games, but SP new games crash.
I dont know what is wrong. Can any one help?
*(I have all the DLC)
For testing:
- Does it work, if you first load an old game and then create a new one?
- Did you try to clear the cache (delete everything in Documents\My Games\Civ5\Cache)?
In this context 'cache' refers to certain files stored on your hard drive. They can be accessed faster than downloading them from some other location. If you delete the files specified by The_J, they will be downloaded the next time you start the game. The files currently on your drive might be corrupt, so downloading them again might fix a problem.
From the moment that i use Civ with the new patch, it crash every time i play. Crashes happens while computer elaborate the next turn.
Is it safe things to clear all the contenents in cache folder? There are about 18Mb of files...
Thanks in advance.
I think that it's safe to delete the cache; I don't recall seeing any reports of bad things happening after doing so. If you want to play safe, you could move the cache files to some other location so that you could restore them if necessary. You also could ask Steam to check your cache files (Steam --> Library --> Games --> Right-click on Civ 5 --> Properties --> Local Files --> Verify integrity of Game Cache).
Thank you very much! After the "Verify integrity of Game Cache", steam told me that 1 file wasn't validate. Next this steam has download the file "22Mb".
Now i've only to try to play, if the the problem still to exist, i'll clear the cache.
Thank you again.
Hmm, well I deleted the cache folder (afterwards I cam back and saw you said clear what is inside, but not delete lol), but the cache folder is back, and everything in it, but the game still crashes =(
When did this problem (new games crashing) begin? Was it when the Dec. 15 patch was released? If not, did something change on your system shortly before the problem began? Also, The_J asked you to load an older game and then, from within that game, start a new one. What happens then?
That map that you downloaded (fallout covered earth). Move (not copy) it to some other location, such as your desktop, and then try to start a new game. Please post again if that doesn't help.
Try this: Use Steam to change the game to some other language and then change back to your original language. This tip actually solved the problem for other players.
