860 (1) – Orleans temple->cannon. Bombay temple->cav. Marseilles temple->cav. Oxford cav->bank. Hyderabad library->cav. Leeds temple->cav. Manchester temple->barracks. Otherwise, just moving units.

870 (2) – Economics->Printing Press (I guess we’re going for Shakespeare’s) @ 30%, +390 gpt. Dover market->library. Brighton market->bank. Reading worker->worker. Exeter market->aque. Grenoble spear->harbor. Nottingham ->Military Academy.

Build embassy in France for 32 gold. Culture growth in 4 turns, 3spt, 3fpt, 7gpt, 2 reg spears, growth in 12, and a settler in 3 (although since it’s only size 1, it’ll be much longer).
Found Leicester ->worker.

890 (4) – Lahore temple-market. Liverpool cav (why? it doesn’t have a barracks yet)->bank. Dijon harbor->market.
Found Carlisle ->worker.
Rush temple in Besancon for 32 gold.

900 (5) – Besancon temple->market. Bengal cannon->cannon.
Found Ipswich ->worker.
I decide we have too much money…to fix that, I attempt a safe steal (we don’t need a war with them just yet) for Chivalry from China for 1368 gold. We succeed.
Rush Library in Birmingham for 64 gold.
We now have 18 Cavalry, 2 Muskets, 1 MDI, and 6 cannon (1 Indian) off the coast of Russia.
Trade Theology to China for Dyes, 7 gold, and 32 gpt…and no one else has anything to trade…but we can now lower the Lux bar to 0%. We now get +533 gpt, and Printing Press is due next turn.

IBT – And out of nowhere…the Russians declare war on us…our MDI is killed by an Ancient Cavalry…they will pay…

Unload a total of 7 cannon (1 Indian), 18 cav (1 Elite, 1 Reg, rest Vet), 1 Elite MDI, and 1 Elite Musket on the hill 2 NE of Novgorod. Also unload 1 Vet Musket on the Iron hill SW of Yaroslavl’.
Found Portsmouth ->worker.
Sign a military alliance with China vs. the Russians. We include Furs, and get 9 gold. This will both, draw Russian units away from our landing force, and weaken China, probably our next target.
Copernicus due next turn, Smith’s due in 15, and Military Academy due in 17.

920 (7) – London Copernicus’->Bank (next person can change to Knight’s Templar, which would take only 9 turns). Hastings uni->bank.
Pillage iron, and the worker that was roading the saltpeter S of Novgorod retreats to the town (which, by the way, is still guarded by a spearman).

IBT – Renew RoP with Ottomans and get 14 gold. Chinese are building Knight’s Templar.

930 (8) – Boston harbor->market. Richmond caravel->market. Cambridge harbor->market. Change London to Knight’s Templar for a pre-build for Shakespeare’s (York is not going to finish Smith’s in time).

Assault on Novgorod: After bombardment, all 3 units (2 spears and a Longbow) are redlined. 1st Cav wins without a scratch, and promotes to Elite. 2nd and 3rd also win without hp loss, and we capture Novgorod, along with 1 slave.

IBT – Renew RoP with China.

940 (9) – Delhi settler->settler. Jaipur bank->barracks. Norwich caravel->market.
The resistance in Novgorod ends. Rush spear in Novgorod for 76 gold.

950 (10) – Democracy->Navigation (so we can get Magellan’s before the GL is obsolete). Washington Library->bank. Philly aque->market. Novgorod spear->barracks. Coventry bank->uni. Dover library->bank. Bristol worker->worker.

Assault on Moscow: Army attacks, loses 3 hp. Cav attacks, loses 2hp, promotes to Elite. 2nd cav attacks, also loses 2 hp. 3rd cav deals 2 hp, but retreats. 4th cav attacks, and again loses 2 hp. 5th cav attacks and loses 0 hp (that’s more like it!). Attack 2 hp pike with Elite cav, lose 1 hp, but capture Moscow! We also gain control of the Statue of Zeus and the Temple of Artemis (both obsolete, though).

For the next person: Units are in position to attack Yekaterinburg next turn (may be a little overkill…).
There is one settler on New England (which I suggest settles in place), and another still on Old France/India, waiting to board a caravel at Chartres.
China is close to capturing St. Petersburg (I’m having second thoughts on allying with them…). We have a cav within striking distance, so if China attacks the city next turn, you can try to capture it before they do.
Free Artistry is due in 4 turns, so switch the Knight’s Templar in London to Shakespeare’s (I’m guessing we don’t want the Templar). I suggest after Free Artistry to go for Navigation, and get Magellan’s Voyage. Once we get Magnetism, the GL will be obsolete, so it would be nice to keep our +1 ship movement.
I’ve also left one caravel unmoved, because I didn’t really feel like moving it. You can decide what to do with it. :)

Great set of moves. How stupid of Catherine to DoW just at the right time.

I think soul_warrior is up now as I took his last turn.

Smolensk is a one tile island - we can't capture that until Marines so we have two choices.... Wait until marines or get it in a peace treaty. Once Russia's capital moves there we would have to conduct an amphibious invasion. I think we should get it for peace as soon as possible as should have won by the time Marines are available. If we leave it as Russia's capital we will always run a risk of flips.

it was Perugia > SW > IroP > ???. now it should be either Evincar, Penwa or Perugia again. as Penwa is not available, is should go to Evincar.

Evincar stated in post #199 that he's out the entire week. Since you just went before me, SW, I think it should be Perugia's turn (although he just went before you...).

And about Smolensk, yeah I noticed that too. Maybe after Yekaterinburg is captured, we should head East towards Rostov. St. Petersburg will be captured by then (either by our lone cav, or China), so we can make peace with Russia, hopefully getting Smolensk in the deal (if we can't get it, keep fighting Russia). If we do make peace, we can attack China...and I just realized that won't be possible unless China breaks our Alliance, or we break our alliance. :(

I got it and regards to your Dad, soul warrior.

I will try to work out the best solution to the Smolensk situation and the alliance we have with China. I don't thinks its that bad as there's a good chance the Russian capital will eventually move to Orenburg (size 5). We should get a settler or unit on the other one tile island nearby.
 
Pre-turn We need culture for our domination win so I spend 800g rushing Libraries in Boston and Lyons plus Temples in Paris, Rheims & Rouen. Sell three corrupt French barracks to somewhat balance the budget. Change new France builds to Temples. Change some Old France & India builds to settlers for cheap border expansion. Still have 2561g in bank plus 492 gpt.

Where is the captured French trebuchet?

For next player. Some workers are roading inside chinese territory near new Russia. We are defending new Russia with fortifications in preparation for Chinese war but you could go for Ottomans first if you like.

Three loaded caravels including worker and setter support are near Manchester and can either reinforce the Cologne beachhead or elsewhere. One caravel has already unloaded a cannon and cavalry next to Cologne they are supported by some cavalry crossing Ottoman territory. An army and two cavalry are ready to capture Hanover and that may eliminate Germany next turn.

I have opened a new trans-oceanic route from out home continent to Germany. We have founded two cities there (only one shown in screenie the other is NE of Macao) and landed some units to support the cavalry and armies that advanced overland from Russia. This route is much shorter. There is a caravel near Hanover ready to unload some more (supporting) units - when the spear on that caravel lands it can be upgraded.

Magellans voyage, Smiths and Physics are all due in 2 turns. The Pentagon in 3 - Don't load another unit into the MDI army in France or it will not fit on a galleon, when we get them. Hastings is bulding Knights Templar but you can change it as Crusaders are a bit too slow.

When the alliance with China runs out you can make peace with Russia and get Smolensk and Krasnoyarsk. There are a load of units to move and riots all over the place for you to sort out....
 
Woke up in the night worrying that i could nnot remember where our 4th army was. Loaded the game to find we only have three armies although we can now build the Pentagon for which four are required according to the help :confused:.

There were only two armies in the 950AD save - did one get defeated or disbanded earlier than 950AD?

Um, I don't know about your Civilopedia, but mine says we need just 3 armies on the field... :confused:

SW, glad to see you're back and everything's ok. I believe it's your turn now (I think Penwa's still having computer troubles, and we haven't heard from Evincar anyway).

About whether to attack the Chinese or Ottomans, I vote Ottomans. For one, although I doubt it, China may be in their GA, but I think they started it awhile ago with their war with Germany.
Also, the Ottomans will be getting Sipahi soon, and the longer we wait, the more obsolete China's riders will be. Although we may want to take out China now, since their army is about the same size as ours.

Everything else seems good, although we may want to switch the Knight's Templar to the Military Academy.

build a few cavs, found New Oxford.

7- china wants to keep the alliance vs russia if we give furs. i decline.

8- ottomans want a RoP. i decline.

9- mao wants to renew our RoP. i decline, for now, and save.

next player can use mao or not, his choice.
i have a 2 prong attack all set up in ottomania.
in COLOGNE - 6 cav + 1 musket, near IZNIK 5 cav + 2 cav armies.
off the coast of IZMIT is a caravel with a settler-worker-spear team for an easy town near silks.
my plan is to slice and dice 'em. ending up with the eastern part of thier land and the silks.

yaroslav' riots. :blush:

According to the minimap Russia has two cities so we can at least get one city in the peace treaty.

I don't rate the Military Academy it is not economically justified. It will cost loads of shields to build and then loads more to build each army. Much better, and probably quicker, to spend those shields on veteran cavalry, get em upgraded to elite and elite* then convert the MGLs into armies. Only downside is relying on the RNG.

Great! Now that each ship can transport 4 units can the next player load the (army + MDI + MDI + MDI) and ship it over to the action. This may have already been done - I haven't looked at the save.
 
didnt load it up, but it is on the way to port.
military academy is an optional build. we can change it later, as our tech pace is 4 turn\tech.
i would rather have leaders come to me via RNG. but building armies is nice too.

russia - mwe can take thier last town, but they are still capital'd in that one tile isle. we will need to rush some happy pills in nearby ex russian towns, so they dont flip.
 
WEEEEEHHEEEEEE!!! I am back mates! Had a nice week in Rome, what an incredible city, and I must say...The Sistine Chapel is awesome!!

I will read this through to see the status, you can count on me these next days :D
