New Gameplay Mechanics in 1.29f?

Killer - here is the saved game. I reloaded it just a few minutes ago and was able to negotiate for resources in connection with a peace treaty with all three of the civs with whom I am currently at war.

Nonetheless, given Kilroy's chat Q&A, the fact that I've never seen this before 1.29, the fact that I've seen it only (AFAIK) in this game, the fact that other players in the same game can't do it, and the fact that no one else seems to be able to confirm the possibility of doing it in a game . . . well, all these facts pretty much convince me that I just got a buggy game for whatever reason.

The game is saved at the end of my turn in 1776. Instead of hitting space bar or enter to end the turn, just open up diplomacy with any of the 3 enemy civs.

It's weird.

Hmm... AFAIK, in 1.29 MPPs will auto-terminate if and only if you sign peace while your common enemy has troops in your friends' borders.

Interesting. I don't recall (and don't think I have a save from the right year) if our mutual enemy had troops in my territory, but I'd put the odds at more than 90%. It was a "themed game" and so played "less than optimally" in order to play out the theme - in this case, the theme was naval power, both peaceful and militant -- our mutual enemy almost assuredly had naval units within my borders at the time my "ally" made peace (and so effectively destroyed the MPP).

Anyone else confirm or contradict Jerucondis' observation?

Catt. could you mail me the game? mail addy is in my sig. or upload it to the file server? i cannot dl attachments :(

In reference to the trading of luxuries or resources during peace treaty, it can be done. However, it won't be available most of the time as the other Civ who is at war with you will usually sign a trade embargo against you with another Civ. ;) Eventhough the war has ended between you and him, the embargo has not. :p

My report is, it is impossible for me to trade lux within a peace treaty negotiation. No embargo was possible because only 1 a.i. is left in the game i check. We are at war, they got 1 extra silk and it is gray out. I wont attack your reputation, but it look strange.

Edit: it is easy to see if any trade embargo is going on, look into domestic advisor screen and look about trade, check embargo with or against.

Catt: not that I'm surprised - it is as you said.... I'll now end that game an start a fresh one with quickstart - maybe that will work...

Well, I must say I haven't played under 1.29 :o (I haven't paid much attention to civ lately) but I can tell you MPP were broken if peace was signed under 1.21f . I'm pretty sure of that because the AI help lasted for about 3 or 4 turns , and then, even if attacked again by my doomed foes, my former ally would not declare war on them.

On the "resources for peace" bit, I think that, if it does work, it makes A LOT of sense. After all an offer like "Give me wines to keep my people happy and I'll let you live your miserable existence" sounds realistic. sadly, it seems to be Catt's bug...would you mind telling us how to reproduce it ;) ??

I want that version!! I have patch 1.29, but I never get the resources/luxuries option! Are there some settings/mods that need to be made?

Tested a game started directly after playing Catts, and i can't trade lux fo peace...

Catt: you modded he bic in any way? if so, could you mail it to someone who tests it? i can't - going to sotuhern france for holiday tomorrow night :D

Nope - I downloaded the 4000BC .sav from Apolyton - other than the superficial mods I mentioned in my earlieer post, nothing else. But I can't even fathom how one could mod the bic to modify this (certainly?) hard-coded game function. Also, several others who downloaded and played the same download file have not been able to pull off the "peace+resources" deal in their games. I can only surmise that something very strange happened in this one particular game

Get away from those god-awful floods in your neck of the woods and enjoy your holiday.

Catt: I will enjoy the holiday... we had a some cellars flooded, but niether me nor my GF nor my parents..... ;) glad I live in teh south, hills make the water run to someone elses cellars....

 about the game though.......

I think inability to trade resource/luxuries in peace negotiations is inadvertent effect of impassible roads and waters for trade during war. However, I spot some airports on screenshots that could be an explanation. Probably, airspace does not suffer from blockade.

Note: have not downloaded Catt's sav to check that yet

Hey Catt, I just had a thought:

Is there an area in the borders between the two civs where one city is actually touching the border? I doubt this is it, but it's just a hunch...
