QUEST FOR ASHBRINGER

This wil be a turn based RPG .. more like Heroes of Might and Magic. but with a difference.. it will draw a great deal from games like Diablo, Neverwinter Nights, Dungeon Seige and D&D games.

The idea is you will start off from a location, known only to you, and you will try to attain the legendary sword by the name of Ashbringer. It has been broken up and scattered around the world.

LORE:
"Anira Tyamlayean eo Illairfmelvam" closely translates to "The Pursuit of Ashbringer" This is ritual, going on for the last 300 years, that all male elves undertake, upon reaching adulthood. Yet, no one has yet managed to complete the task as yet.

The Ashbringer was a once mighty sword, that literally brought about instant death to the Undead that now rule upon the continents of Kalimdor. All that remained was ash.....
sadly the mighty sword is no longer in existence for the scourge minions, the Forsaken, has captured and with the help of some strong magic has broken up the Ashbringer into pieces and has it scattered throughout the lands.
It is rumored that the individual factions are well hidden deep into the lands, but these individual pieces of sword are powerful artifacts themselves, each imbued with powerful magic.

Several factions will compete annually for this auspicious journey, some for their own benefits, some for the reputation of the tribe factions or some for the greater good. Frustrated with the years of failure, this year on wards, the quest has been made open to all the tribes, even the humans and the half-lings have been allowed to compete in this dangerous quest. What awaits these travelers is eternal glory.
The tribes which are participating are: Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Half-lings.
The ex-scourge members, the Taurens wanted to participate too, but they were not allowed. And a warning notice was put up that any Tauren/Orc people captured dead or alive would be rewarded.

The Mechanism of the RPG:
Each player will start off from his village; whatever is known of these lands has been notified to the participant. The player will choose his starting faction and class from among Fighter, Ranger, Rogue and Wizard. New classes might be made available at higher levels. The participants have been granted some meager rations and some arms and equipments. It is believed that a strong competitor will be able to procure arms and equipments by killing the several guardians that roams these lands.
On killing each adversary, the adventurers will gain experience, level up, and get access to newer skill sets. They may also find several merchants who ply in these lands, offering their goods and services to all people, the good and the bad alike. Several smiths of these lands have been assembled to make fine goods available in the individual shops the starting villages, for the benefit of the explorers.

Conditions of wining:
1. Acquire all the 3 pieces of the fabled sword, and reconstruct the sword.
2. If all the other characters have failed in their quest.
Conditions of losing:
1. Your character has died.
2. Someone has found out your starting location, and has captured it (takes 48 hours to achieve).
3. Someone has assembled all the pieces of the artifact.

Permitted Races

Humans - They are the newest among the settlers in this world. They are known to be equally able to suit into most tasks that is assigned to them, without a problem. Due to their high adoption and learning capacity, they start off with a benefit. A Human character gets to know either 2 spells or get to know Lvl 2 of a certain spell from the start.
Preferred Job Category - Multi classing a Human Character leads to a loss of 2 levels experience.
Elves - The graceful beings are known to be the most reclusive of the known races. They are particularly characterized by their long, pointed ears and well kept dresses. An Elf is known to live long by Human standards, almost 150 years. During their early early years, they rapidly gain Dexterity(+1/ level) but towards the later years of their lives, their knowledge grows (+1/level). They are immune to Nature Magic.
Preferred Job Category - Archer > Wizard > Rogue
Dwarves- Dwarves are small sized creatures, with flowing beard and mustache. They are beings from their mountainous regions, with their cities dug deep in side the mountains, but can occasionally spread nearby. They are well known for their affinity for Alcoholic Brews. Dwarves are brave fighters, and due to their smaller size, they can often do wonders against larger creatures. They are immune to Sleep category magic & chance to do critical damage (upto 2.25%) to organisms larger than them.
Preferred Job Category - Fighter > Wizard
Half-lings - The most hated of the species in the realm, they are the children borne out of a human-elf marriage. They are also experts in most things that their parents do. And they do not have any of their problems.
Preferred Job Category- All, no Penalties on Multi-classing.

Permitted Classes :

Fighter - The masters of Melee battles, these are the main stay of most battles; without the tough fighters to absorb damage, the other weaker types would not even stand a chance. (+2 Str, -2 Int)
Ranger - The masters of bow and arrow. The quick and agile characters move around the battles and strike from a distance. They are very fragile and can easily be eliminated by others, hence they must avert danger at all costs (+2 Dex, -2 Str)
Rogue - When a Rogue arrives, no one knows and it usually take sometime for adversaries to realize, that something is missing, or worse, killed. Passive skill Stealth (if a rogue is to stay still for a turn, he/she becomes invisible to the common eye. can be revealed used certain magical items called Dust of Appearance and Crystal Eye of Naz'ghul)
Wizard - The respected ones of most kingdoms, these group of men can turn the tide of any battle. With their knowledge of the arcane, they make things appear/happen as if out of thin air. (+2 Int. _-2 Dex)

**All Elves are archers, even undead ones. The Elf captains are having an AURA, either offensive or defensive. Offensive auras include (faster attack rate, increased damage, faster movement) Defensive auras include (protection from elements)(3350)

After continuously killing off 10 Corrupted-Elf Squads, the teams will have an optional choice of killing some Elf-Bosses. These are fearsome Creatures. They appear alone, and fight with great vigor and courage. A team can keep fighting one Elf-Boss after another. In case they are having another war, (another clan attacks, they start fighting other monsters, clan losses the battle to an Elf-boss) they will have to kill off 10 squads of Elves before they can go Boss Hunting.
Drops: Unique Set = a collection of Helm, Body armor, gloves, Shoes, Weapon and Trinket, the collective power is more than the sum of its parts. Weapon that the Elf is wielding as well as some moderate gold.

Level 4: Titans: well they are, Titans, ‘nuff said, these bad asses will have more HP than the entire Clan together, unless there is some massive Farming out there. At the end they ll hand out a delicious Unique weapon, and Relic shard. Clan must kill 4 Titans to complete the Relic, Note: there are 12 titans overall, and at any point in time, there can only be 4 titans max. Respawn time 12 hours.

You should really start posting these things in NES, You will get much more of an audience there.

Give it a week or so here and if you don't have enough people go over to NES (with the people already in it still in it)

I haven't read it yet but.. could you downsize the text? I find this lettersize rather annoying to read :)

ok .. i thought the font size was small :P

aah, much better, thanks :)

well. I've got a couple of questions..

- I'm not sure what you expect of the players? are we supposed to write stories that tell what our character does?
- what exactly could our characters do, besides fighting and traveling?
- Is fighting monsters etc. the only way to make money?
- How do you encounter these? is this rng'ed?
- What do the stats do? I thought there would be a link between the weapons and stats but that doesn't show..

well. I've got a couple of questions..

- I'm not sure what you expect of the players? are we supposed to write stories that tell what our character does? stories are appreciated by no tnecessary
- what exactly could our characters do, besides fighting and traveling? they are dumbo's honestly :P. all they can do is fight and travel,. some interaction is also there.
- Is fighting monsters etc. the only way to make money? that, and selling off unwanted items that you have in your invventory
- How do you encounter these? is this rng'ed? Yes, monsters have beeen randomly placed at certain locations. towards the center of the map, there are the monsters that are more violent
- What do the stats do? I thought there would be a link between the weapons and stats but that doesn't show.. you see the shop link ?? if you were to buy a weapon, that would automatically add up to your stats. normal ones just add to your attack and defense, the magical ones may also jinx other stats

Yes I was assuming as much. What I meant was.. required levels of a certain stats to obtain certain weapons. for instance you need x dexterity to get y bow.

extra question: under damage it says xdy (with x and y being numbers) I assume that x is the amount of damage you do. what does y mean?

XdY --> see link : Dice Roll

if the damage is 1d8, i would be rolling the dice, once, the output would be damage dealt. the Y number after the D indicates the sides of the die that would be used to roll.
