New IGN feature (July 5, 2007)

Even the Poles. ;)

You can thank GarretSidzaka for them.

All leaderheads in RtW are animated. There's no static or flags.

Well, in that case, I guess you really have to use von Papen then.

WW2:RtW looks better and better the more I hear about it. I also like the idea of random historical events that was hinted on one of the IGN screenshots.

Yeah, and he was actually the most powerful non-Nazi. He was a member of the Catholic Party, was Chancellor for a few months under Hindenburg, then Vice-Chancellor till Hitler closed the position. After that he became the Ambassador to Austria then after unification he became Ambassador to Turkey. At the time, those two positions were the most powerful diplomatic positions in Germany. Some say he had great influence on Hitler, and was a friend to him. At Nuremburg he was charged with helping to incite war, but charges dropped.

He was the safest bet. :)

Now....... who can guess who replaces Hirohito? :D

leaderheads... hehe... maybe that Anglo-Saxon guy was concept art for some other leader... a Polish leader, prayhaps?

One thing we see are the Ideologies
US,UK,+France have a red check in a white box (Democracy)
USSR has what looks like a Hammer and Sickle (Communism)
Germany, Italy, and Iberia have a brown slash, that's probably the fasces (Fascist)
All the rest have some sort of white flag with a small blue cross (Independence, Nationalism?... an indicator of no ideology?)

So why exactly are some leaders replaced in the WW2 scenario anyway?

I'm kind of irked at the outright censorship...

Cuz I had to. FullStop. No more comment needed. Wait for the add-on!

So, the leaderheads in RtW are animated. For clarification if you can say, do you mean retextures or new models? Either way, it's a great feature, but it'd be nice to know.

Instead of the civilizations , they named them Balcans in WW2 ? That sucks a lot.

IGN goofed on the unique victory conditions in Rhye's and Fall of Civilization.
From the article:
"The Maya can win if they discover the Calendar by 600AD or if they manage not to lose a single city until the Industrial Age. England can win by getting three cities on each continent, being the first to circumnavigate the globe, or being the first civilization to enter the Industrial and Modern eras."

I'm not sure about the victory conditions for Maya, as they didn't exist in RFC prior to BtS, but for England, the victory conditions are:
1) Found at least 3 cities on every continent by 1730 AD AND
2) Be the first to circumnavigate the globe AND
3) Be the first to enter the Industrial and Modern Eras

If it were just an "or" for victory conditions, India would always win around 2000 BC, by founding 2 religions...

You're right, I noticed that mistake too.
I always wonder how a site which by profession writes about games can be so goof...

I mean, you can do mistakes. But isn't there an edtor to these articles? :(

Who is the Anglo Saxon leader ???
There was no single Anglo Saxon leader at that time !

Also what the hell is he wearing its meant to be the dark ages !

Its clearly should be Offa of Mercia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offa_of_Mercia

if you go done to European connections on that page it states offa had connection with Charlemagne.

Hrump

Im not sure what the previous poster meant by we have a Saxon leader and an Anglo-Saxon leader ?

But this sounds like a better idea.
Ie Saxon = Wessex
Anglo-Saxon = Offa of Mercia
and presumably Northumbria would be too far north to be in the game ?

Ah I see its continental Saxons. Will if there only going to be one Civ in Britain during Charlemagne's reign it has to be the Mercians.

There clearly has to be a Saxon civ in Saxony (northern Germany), seperate from the Anglo-Saxons of England. Charlemagne's Saxon Wars are famous, and takes up about a third of the Royal Frankish Annals, the annals Charles himself commissioned (and a copy of which sits on my bookshelf).
