New Let's Plays

He seemed overly concerned with Energy, and then didn't use it.

Well, he did purchase some things but not as many as he should have. But it is a improvement over some of the other videos.

So, according the last vid, this (unknown Wonder 3)

is the Panopticon.

One of the lets plays did show what it did (even if it isn't on that great Well of Souls analyst site). All military units get +1 vision. And if I recall correctly, +1 culture from the wonder as well?

The two guys playing the game for Giant Bomb sound like a 21st century version of Cheech and Chong. I kept expecting the one guy to say something like, "Go Harmony, man. Those aliens have some great herb."

I listened to Jesse Cox as long as I could bear. I just couldn't take his bufoon act anymore.....and I'm not entirely convinced it's an act at all.

If I was in charge at 2K Marketing, I would have all potential blog previewers slated to receive advance copies of a new game, have to attend a mandatory one or two day class where all they do is get schooled on the game's basics and then play the game under supervision. Perhaps this way 2K would end up with some preview vids that are worth the time to watch.

Nah, they picked some popular players who have lots of subs just to get it out there.

I wish they would have sent Quill18 a copy but alas, since he got married to EU4 maybe that was never in the cards.

Well it is true that he could have bought some useful buildings, but because he went Industry and got that virtue that gives +1% energy for stockpiled energy his strategy kind of made sense.

Well Jesse Cox video was very good, it is a faster pace game than how I would normally play (automatic workers/exploring instead of micromanaging). I think everyone on this forum has a higher standard for what is a good video since we have seen some much of the game already. I already know what build I will test, the best starting set-up for it, and how to deal with aliens. Most of the videos I see explain the basics which I already have seen dozens of times :P.

Yes, that was an interesting way to play, but he was too unaware of what was happening outside of his territory. I almost could not believe that he hasn't noticed for many turns that PAC has settled a city right on his capital's borders.

Yea and he did not notice the aliens his explorers were walking by for many turns. I seen enough of the early game. Just want a video where they get to mid-game or start at mid-game.

He did some good things but never seemed to be giving it his full attention and his voice ranks up in the top 10 most irritating of all time. I watched a Blood Bowl tourney and his games were the worst.

Clearly, Civ Fanatics needs its own blog and preview vids...so things get done right, darnit! :D

The Yogscast apparently have a Civilization Beyond Earth Boot Camp series online.

To make sense of this, here's the gist of it. The Yogscast people played some rather bad rounds of Civ5 where the only person who's good at it ended up winning almost every round, almost since the later rounds ended up becoming an everyone vs the good player scenario. So, the developers gave them an early copy of the game, I'm guessing a 250 turn demo one, since they're clearly going to have a round of CivBE once the game is out, to do some early training so they can have a fighting chance against the good player.

It's an online 3 player map. They appear at the same time with the two game developers observing the game and giving hints to the three.

They upload these on the Yogscast Duncan channel on Youtube but they tend to upload some videos on the Yogscast website earlier.

For people who prefers Youtube, only Part 1 is uploaded.

The first two were actually enjoyable, perhaps because the Firaxis lead developers were there to give them some stick and rudder, solid info and advice about what might be a good idea to do next.

Believe it or not, that was the first MP Civ game I've ever watched. I'm an SP kind of guy but that did look like fun, I must say.

The Yogscast guys are entertaining, but I've kind of had my fill of clueless people playing the first 50 turns.

I was amused by the chitin bugs fighting each other and Sjin asking if he could ride them.

The Sabotage covert operation destroys all tile improvements within 5 tiles of the target city.

Oh Oh they mentioned that you have a small chance of getting a siege worm from the expeditions. That is like finding a natural wonder in terms of military strength. If you find one early it you would be able to take over your neighbor with minimum loses and have a good military defense until late game.

Yeah, I caught that too. I think it would be awesome. :goodjob:
