New Preview at Game Informer

From this article:

Brave New World will include nine new leaders, two of which we saw for the first time this week. Shaka of the Zulu is aggressive and, interestingly, does not take advantage of the new systems when utilized by the AI. He’s an enormous threat in the early game, and continues to be a thorn in the side of other residents throughout play. Maria I of Portugal brings a unique caravel replacement and one of the most interesting trade-based unique buildings. Her Feitoria can be built in any civilization, regardless of relationship. The building’s presence provides a copy of any resource in the opposing empire to Maria. If the target civilization is an ally, she will receive two of each luxury.

That says differently than the Escapist which says that Portugal Feitoria only works with city-states.

"According to producer Dennis Shirk, the Brave New World team has worked to bring the sense of wonder to the late game in what is likely the title’s final expansion."

As far as World Congress projects:
The International Games bring happiness.
The International Space Station brings science.
The World's Fair brings culture.

Reading this about Portugal I do not think Maria I is going to be loved by other civs, especially the Netherlands. At least I wouldn't appreciate it if someone is using my tile and basically stealing my resources without receiving any benefit back.

Still sounds to me that it can only be used with CSs. Getting double of every lux a major civ has would be ridiculously OP.

Edit:
Story updated. Feitoria are city-state only.

Whew!

"According to producer Dennis Shirk, the Brave New World team has worked to bring the sense of wonder to the late game in what is likely the title’s final expansion."
It's not clear that the "likely to be final" is being attributed to Dennis. The working hard certainly is, but the "likely to be final" could be editorialising.

Nope. Not editorializing. The question was asked directly. ;)

Let me clarify. When I asked him, he didn't equivocate too much. They approached BNW as the capstone on the experience. Dennis didn't close the door on more, but it is not very likely.

I wouldn't read too much into that unless it's explicit that Shirk mentioned BNW will likely be the last expansion. Otherwise it's the reporter's speculation. Strictly speaking, we have precedent for a Civ game with three 'expansions' - In addition to Beyond the Sword and Warlords, Civ IV's spinoff Civ IV: Colonization can be thought of as a "standalone expansion".

Somewhere else Dennis said they hadn't expected to make another one after G&K. They changed their minds when G&K kicked ass and sold well. So, if BNW does well, we could get a third one.

You are correct. It was. The answer was "We approached it that way."

I see another expansion in the future. There is still much to add, and unless they have some awesome ideas that need a fundamental code change: there's really no reason not to put out more product for 5.

Couple of other clarifications I just received:

Toward the end of the game votes take place every 10 turns (with World Leader elections every other cycle). My confusion was in cycle/turn.

Libraries don't have slots. I changed that to opera houses.

That should be all of 'em!

Anyone else spot this?:

Four new leaders have yet to be revealed, one of which is linked to the expansion’s only new resource.

So it seems that the mystery new Civ with its mystery new resource is all we're getting resource-wise.

Still, that is best UI/UB in the game. Spam Feitora in every CS and sell lux for cash, as you don't need to spend money to feed any CS u will be swimming in it. $$$$$$$$$$

Maybe the World Congress will hate you if you keep smuggling the City-States?
