why does it cost $200 in the USA and 160 pounds in the UK when one pound worth two dollars?

And 200 is a fair price IMHO, the old one is about $170, IIRC. (I was thinking about buying one last week, but I didn't.... I might buy the lite one though.(

The VAT in the UK is around 18 % (or 19 %) IIRC, that would raise the price to $240, but it is sold at $320. It can't be just taxes.

Urm, did you read my post? It is often cheaper to pay for the shipping and both the UK AND US or UK AND Japanese taxes than to just by the product from Sony, in the Sony shop.

Hence this issue isnt about taxes. Hence people buy the products on the gray market - eg legally importing one unit for personal use, rather than going to the manufacturers shop or internet retail in the UK. Hence people have the almighty hump with these companies. Hence when black - as opposed to gray - market goods defrauding these companies appear just about everyone feels morally fine about robbing those who tried to robs us.

You know your attempt to make a partisan point would have been much better is it wasn't so apaulingly ignorant. Not only of the facts but of the very thread you are posting in.
