New Roads West

I'd also like to see some new roads out of our existing cities headed west out to Japan. Do any of these look favorable to you?

Well, I don't want to be accused of being a part of a rebel group that is planning the future of Fanatika, but I think the southern most hiway is the way to go, as it will connect a soon to be conquered city.

Yea, I think the southern one will be top priority. Then the northern one. I don't see much need for the middle one as of now.

Our priority should first be connecting all of our new cities (especially Octavinium ). After that, the other two highways should be completed, expecially the southern one.

Aside from connecting all our cities, if we are contemplating another strike against an opponent then we will need roads to take units from their recruitment bases straight up to the front line as quickly and directly as possible. Therefore the military will be very interested in road construction in order to move troops rapidly to where they may shortly be needed- which in turn will depend upon the FA and the Presidents positions with respect to our "friendly" neighbours Japan and America.

I think the middle road is possibly better for this objective - if there is to be a war v. Japan. Anyhow, lets not just try and engage in a bit of "subversive" planning - but actually try to co-ordinate various policy objectives as well!!!

I think a pre-assault road plan is an excellent idea.

What's the use of discussing road plans if we don't have a city placement plan yet? I think these roads are stretced beyond our current reach, since we can't defend our workers properly if they're beyond our borders.

It's called long term planning Shabbaman. First road building priority priority is the Southern Highway. Second would be the northern way. We will have to judge the overall priority of the western turnpikes against our road building needs in the east to connect our new cities on the Landbridge.

I think donsig is correct in his prioritising of the road building schemes. Basically we need a north-south axis and an east-west axis. These roads are, however, REALLY important. They will connect all our cities, they will bring commerce, and they will permit us a degree of military responsiveness which we currently lack.

I would, all the same, like to reiterate my suggestion of a road to carry troops directly to the battle front. I think the advantages are pretty obvious.

I wholeheartedly agree that these roads will be a huge boon if we decide to attack Japan in the near future. Even if we decide not to, they will drastically speed up settler placement in the west when we begin expanding in that direction.

All of the above roads look good, although I particularly like the middle one. It would only require one extra tile to be roaded to create a more direct route to tlacopan, and gives us a nice express route directly towards the Japanese from our hinterland.
