New Scenario requires playtesting . . .

 Don't get the question

My guess would be 'fight to death', as you have already stated quite a few times. However, Germany would be helped with a peaceloving Reichskansler that cooperates more, before Germany is conquered completely.
Germany has created the whole mess it is in by itself. It could have been exporting its goods over the whole world had it not been so stubborn and unwilling to settle the disputes in a civilized manner.

If you want to leave the game altogether, I am strongly in favor of a new Reichskansler.

OK guys: the most weirdest thing has happened in Japan.:
I find some units have moved and have Goto-commands. I have checked the file I uploaded, and I am sure I pressed Ctrl-N, since I cannot get any unit moving. Even more weird is the fact that the transports that are sailing the seas have moved, while in the turn I played for Yop, I had moved all ships maximum distance!!??

What is going on ??

I could play the turn, damage is not too big (although one unit has disappeared altogether), but this is really weird. What should we do?

BTW: the new economic policy is working great! All but one city now loves the Emperor.

Guus Hiddink, deputy to Holy Emperor Yop

wierd... I'd say that the AI has been playing around with your game. :( As there's not much you can do about it, just play on.

I just want to give you the choice if you want to continue the game with a surviving germany or not.

Despite the fact that a work of God has messed with the Japanese positions, Japan has moved. Japan as a glorious nation can easyly withstand the meddling of AI oranyone else.

Economic messures taken by Guus Hiddink have rewarded the Japanese people with many luxeries. This has doubled the GNP of Japan, without any losses in production or anything else.

Two-thirds of the Japanes people do now truly Love their Emporor, and the rest is expected to follow this frenxy next months.

Trade is the most important goal of the Japanese people, and again three trade units has taken voyage to distant lands.

The save: (I know the year is wrong, but the save is right;) )

Germanos:
About your Japanese problem. The last few times when I have loaded my part of the scenario, the AI has moved for them. I have asked Yop about this some times, but he has just ignored it. Maybe he did not ctrl-N?

Eivind, I am 100% sure I did Ctrl-N this- and the previous turn.
As I said, ships were moved that had USED all their movement points when I played Yops turn....

Really weird. With your post I am beginnin to think there is a bug in the scen.

French mobilization:
The Fench armament industry around the globe are producing on its maximum. The weapons built are primarely ment for the war against Germany. Also the Battleship Bègles was build in Bordeaux to strengthen the Imperial French Navy in the Atlantic. There are major tentions on the French-German border, but no shots are still fired between them. French Generals are planning an assault on the city of Trieste, wich are rightfully French.

Still riots:
The mob in Paris are very displeased that no shots have been fired against Germany like the brave Brits already have done. They want to see Germany in ruins. And French patriots are doing whatever they can to provoke actions. "France was neglected in the parcelling of Germany, and our honour will be rised once again", they shouted as they plundered the city. The Emperor are desperatly doing what he can to calm the masses. The mayor has already fleed from the capitol.

And Spanish resisters are fighting a continues war inside the city walls against French troops. The French Emperor, Napoleon III, agreed to give the resisters more luxeries. Only time will tell if they can be bought.

Boer units fail to retake johannesburg. Pillaging of Indonesia complete, units dispanded. Units in Norway are pillaging. Sweden is selling up anything of value.
Cities in germany are pumping out infantry units to stem the tide of the enemies of the reich. trieste and Belgrade are being disrupted. Our enemies shall find that what they came looking for is gone.

Mmm... an empty Central Europe... Jottum !!:D

To my dear Allies: US cash is waiting in exchange for the Dutch Indies:goodjob: Let's get it done. (See PM's)

OK guys, (especially Peregrine/Exile):

I am almost finished with my turn (just a few online swaps of the former German colonies to do), and I took the liberty of loading the save as a hotseat-game to see how Japan did the last turn. And AGAIN Japanese units have moved, and again they have got GOTO commands, moving in the same direction as the turn before. Ships that should NOT have had any moving allowance left DID move. And offcourse I DID ctrl-N on top of it.

So, does anybody have a clue how something like this can happen? Is there a setting in the game that creates this? Is there some box all players need to check on/off to avoid this? Or is it a bug in the scenario? Since I never found any US units move in this way, I think I can rule out the game malfunctions on my PC.

I will ask Yop about his experiences with Japan when he gets back, since Eivind has seen Japanese units move earlier.

Peregrine: has this happened before in your playtests? (probably not)

I am following the other playtests on Poly as well, and it seems they do NOT have this problem. On the other hand they have not moved further then Februari 1870 IIRC, so maybe the Japanese player has so far thought he forgot to Ctrl-N or didn't move his units to the places where the AI starts to mess up. It could well be it is place or unit specific. I remember from SP games that the game engine could do weird things if you crossed the 'date-line'. Units with GOTO command would turn around and similar weird things. Note however I DID NOT use GOTO commands while commanding Yop's units.

I did run some more but simple tests in Hotseat-mode, and then I would get the units back in the places where I had left them, so it seems specific to the Internet-mode. I also discoverd that the moving takes place between the Japanese and French turn (as was to be expected).

Maybe we could get an online session with Japan and France, and see what happens to the units when Japan end its turn there? The players could use old saves of turns that have allready been played, so it will not affect the game itself. I do need approval of you for something like this though, especially since in true MP-mode, the playtesting players will be able to see opponents (their AI in fact) move their units around if they border MP-players cities and/or Units. (in Hotseat mode you do not see this).

I do think though that this matter should be invetigated and solved, since it really cripples Japans allready very limited possibilies in the Game.

Anybody ideas on the nature of the events and/or on how to investigate and/or even better: how to solve it?

Regards, Germanos, US-VP and sub for Yop.

I've never encountered the problem that you've described. None of the other pbem games have encountered it either.

The only thing that I can think of is that perhaps one of the players in this game has been tampering with the scenario, somehow re-assigning the "human" player.

Other than that, I'm at a loss. I've played the thing hundreds of times myself and have yet to run across anything like this.

Germanos, what version of this scenario are you using? Are you using the playtest one or the release version?

This problem may be being caused by units having greater movement allowances in different peoples games owing to the rules file differing...

Case,
Iam using the playtest version: the one Peregrine send us.
You may ask this because of my subbing for Pavlov on Poly: For that game I have a seperate folder. I was carefull to store the restpective save games in the right folders, so it should be OK. In addition it looks that Eivind has seen the units move when Yop was still playing his own turns, and there is no reason to assume he downloaded the definite version later.

Thanks for your input :goodjob:

Well,
I never noticed it and I don't know what you're talking about.
Japanese units moving?????
No, I didn't notice it and it didn't disrupt my game. The build queus were also never changed.

What does this mean then?

Gentlemen, our country faces serious threats, and a long war lies ahead. The Neutrals have declared war upon us! We did not receive even a formal declaration of war, but we have found this out when we were checking the diplomatic status with all nations.
This means we now face a two front war. Militairy production has thus been put into higher gear. Following the statements of the German Reichskansler that he will fight an all out war, and that diplomatic efforts have revealed Germany has forseen all the actions af the past few months, the US must ready itself for the total annihilation of Germany. Many Germans are fleeing their country, and they are welcomed among the million immigrants that have arrived in the US this month.
The Russian attitude has also worsened considerably, and tensions are on the rise again. It is advised to keep a strong Naval presence in the Pacific, and of the westcoast of the US.

News from the front
Pacific
Honolulu finaly fell to the US-Navy. Former German colonies have seen an administrative change, and are now under firm US control. Our allies have been compensated for their efforts in capturing the Indies . Unfortunately the French still hold Makassar, since the French administrator didn't show up!?!? Contruction of the Pacific Fleet has been speaded up. In San Fransisco an Office of the National Security Agency (Secret Police Station) was opened. Now their will be no more riots when the Third Fleet patrols the oceans. Following the opening, many citizens took to the streets to celebrate the President.

Mexico and Central America
Advancing Cannon Divisions on Tampico have been destroyed. Other Cannon div.'s are seen advancing on Panama. The garrison there has been strengthened.

Mediterranian basin
The sixth fleet has now a strong presence in the area. The Warships will ensure save passage for all transports. Landings have been carried out near the port of Trieste, to assist the French army there. A naval base has been established on the Island of Crete, using the Free Oriental Port of Candia.

North Sea and Baltic
At the request of our British Allies German Ports are being blocked, while more Warships have entered the southern entrance of the Channel. A strong presence of Russian Ironclads and Gunboats have been reported off the coast of Konigsberg, while engineers are paving the way for Russian troops. An assault on Konigsberg is expected in October.

Home front
Yes gentlemen: Home front. A Neutral Warship had entered US territorial waters on the Eastcoast. The US Navy, who has not left its own waters unprotected, shot the ship to pieces and left no survivors. May this be a warning to all who dare to threaten the US.

Economic news
Things look bleak here as well. The US economy, per capita, has been surpassed by Japan! No doubt this has been the sole achievement of Guus Hiddink, the Economic Advisor of the Emperor. The US must soon end the War, so it can invest in the prosperity of its citizens once again.

Goteborg Falls

The Sweedish city of Goteborg is that latest Northern European city to be liberated from German rule. Like Oslo, Trondheim and Reykjavik, the city fell to a combined attack mounted by the Royal Navy and British Army. British casualties were low.

Germanos, the Boer region of South Africa should be much larger :( All I control is the coastline and Johanesburg.
