Independence Day Celebrated
On the 4th of July, all over the US celebrations were held to mark the 94th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Panama Canal Opens!!
US Army Engineers have built a marvelous set of locks through the lands of Panama, after the Pirates nest was conquered by the US Navy and its troops that landed last month. This will enable US warships to travel from the yards on the eastcoast to the Pacific without having to sail around the world. All nations may pass freely as well, as long as they do not block the entrence or exit of the locks.
US mobilizes
The rising tension has lead to the mobilization of US troops, in case German troops will attack French troops who are dispatched to take the German Port of Trieste. The Secratary of State has expressed deep regret over the fact that Germany has chosen a path which has caused the French Declaration of War. US Troops have gathered in Boston, where a newly build ship will take them to Europe, where they are expected to arrive next month. The numurous navy vessels in the Atlantic will allow for a fast and save voyage, and will be able to land the troops almost everywhere in the European theater.
Germany also did not answer to US requests on a smooth transfer of power in the Dutch Indies, so the colonies remain still in German hands. The US navy is closing in on the archipelago however, and is expected to arrive there soon. US administrators are dispatched to British forces in the area, and they might be able to take control of the Islands later this month.
A cease-fire with the Independents was signed, while the cease-fire with Germany was cancelled.
An alliance with the UK is ready to be signed, but the British ambassador felt it was necassery to contact his superiours in London first.
Trade booms
US merchants made provitable voyages to London and Barcelona. Over 4000 dollars were earned. Scientists benefitted also, and will achieve a great breakthrough in the field of Chemistry next month. At the moment, foreign trade make up for roughly 1/5 of the US GNP.
New Orleans reaches 1 million mark
The city is the sixth city in the US to surpass this mark, while immigrants continue to arrive in large numbers from Europe. All over the US provisions are erected to support the influx of these more than welcome immigrants.
