New Scenario requires playtesting . . .

The US also opposes the sale of any other improvements other than Magistrates and Garrisons. In an earlier PM more details on the transfer of the Dutch Indies have been proposed, but no answer has been received on that yet. If communication between the US and Germany remain severed, Germany is hereby requested to disband all militairy units in the Indies , so that American administrators are free to enter the cities and take control in June.

Does the US understand well that Germany is searching for a cease-fire with the US? Our diplomats will no doubt have no problem enforcing such an arrangement, dispite the still ENRAGED German diplomats.

We do remind Germany that trade with the US is extremely profitable, and non-compliance will result in a continuing trade-embargo and seizure of German Mfg. Goods.

Germany is advised to reply as soon as possible.

All world powers are advised to take good care of the attitude of their ambassadors towards the US. The US regards the attitude of the diplomats as an official position of the respective governments, dispite what the Monarchs of these nation say on the public fora.

Hence War has been declared by the US on Russia, since we found the attitude of their ambassador
and diplomatic status as
cease-fire
. This confirms the reports from Time Weekly published earlier. The world must take notice that before publication of this article Russia was asked to change their attitude after a Wardeclaration was received in april, and that Russia had avery opportunity to do so. They clearly choose to follow a different path, dispite earlier talks on a trade-alliance!

Proof of this can be abtained at the respective US-ambassies in London and Paris.

It is my turn Yop.

I do also like to keep some speed in the game, but I think all players should be allowed at least 24 hours before to post request like yours.
There are things to do, not only in the game, but in live as well. Then there is a timezone difference with some players as well, who might be sound asleep.....

Well, not much more happened. A russian freight seized, and the ship that had deliverd it was sunk by the US Navy, which grows stronger in the Pacific every month.

US-Britain Alliance Signed

At a meeting held in Buffalo, New York the British and American Foreign Ministers have a signed an defencive alliance between our nations. From this day forth, an attack on one nation will be considered an attack on both nations. This treaty also establishes the US-Canada border.

[Germanos, the stupid AI wouldn't sign the treaty, can you have a go in your next turn?]

Jerusalem Falls

British troops have secured the Ottoman city of Jerusalem. This latest victory was greeted by celebrations and religious services across the British Empire.

Trade Continues to Boom

This month British traders have opened new trade routes to Russia, Japan, Italy and Denmark.

Darius has gone for his hols, and left me in charge (God help the poor Ruskies!)

On arrival, what do I find? The US ambassador has delcared war on my country because he found his reception at the Russian Embassy a bit frosty! Not enough of those little gold-wrapped chocolates to go around, I bet. :( If I've told the caterers once, I've told them a hundred times.....

Still, this is either hyper-sensitivity on the part of a country not renowned for their delicate, retiring nature, or he simply wants a fight.

Which is it Germanos? A bit of honesty wouldn't hurt!

Anyway, if is is all some ghastly chocolate-oriented mistake, Russia is perpared to bury their dead sailors (or those of them that eventually wash up on the beach next year) and forgive. If the US wants a war, please declare it properly, without sneak-attacks, if you don't mind. [Not sure of the game etiquette for this one - are sneak attacks allowed?]

After whom do I play? [A repost of the turn order and players/nations would help too] Is it my go now? Can you PM me the password Peregrine?

I imagine, as the Anglo-US treaty was signed AFTER the US had attacked Russia, its terms do not apply to this conflict, if conflict it is to be. Can you confirm, please, Case?

John
(sorry for the delay in getting to this board, RL is quite hectic at the moment).

the White House, Washington, May 1870

Dear Vice Tzar,

since we understand the Tzar is ill, and cannot run the country, we will adress you, honourable Sir, with a small summary of previous events.

In april, US-merchants landed near Riga, and surprisingly
the US received a declaration of War by Russian AI-envoys.
Since US-Russian relations had been good previously, The US took it not to seriously, and contacted the Tzar, both publicly and Private, to annull this declaration, and improve the attitude of their embassador to the US.
NO response was send to the US.

In May, the US found the Russian ambassador DID improve his attitude. He was not enraged anymore, but his Icy behaviour when he handed over the news of a cease-fire was not very convincing.

The US is not interested in cease-fires when at first an unprovoked (merchants!) decl. of War has been send. Then the US prefers to know what it can expect. This has led to the hostile actions taken against Russian units in US territory.

The US is NOT seeking war, we have no benefit from it. We already had to pull out our merchants, who had been sick of the long seavoyage, and where so happy to have firm ground under their feet.
We might add that our nations are practically on the other side of the globe, so this conflict is most likely to harm only the merchant fleet.

Therefore the US seeks improved relations with Russia. This would mean that an ambassador to the US needs to be appointed that has at least a neutral attitude towards the US nation and culture.
Currently the US ambassador is enraged by the refusal of the Tzar to answer his diplomatic efforts, and he is deeply upset by the loss of lifes suffered in the sinking of the Russian cargo-vessel 'Tzarina Anastasia', so he might not be the one to contact right now to sign any peace terms. He is a sensible and strong man however, and surely will overcome the latest setbacks. His attitude has been constructive to say the least, and will be so in the future no doubt.

The US will welcome a new ambassador with all regards due, and the US looks forward to start constructive talks, maybe first in private sessions, so that an effective peace-treaty may be agreed upon bu the two nations.

G.R. Berezinski, Spokesman of the White House.

P.S.: I hope Darius send you his password himself, since so far I could be the only one who gave his password to Peregrine:(
Maybe Darius game is not passworded?

I will send you my game files. I think I read somewhere he doesn't have the playtest files anymore, since he already made an official version, and put that on the net somewhere.

My dear Ambassador,

Please convey to your President our apologies for the confusion caused by A.I Krapovski's unauthorised and warlike statements.

The individual has been reassigned to where his aggressive instincts will be more properly channelled - command of Company 4, Penal Servitude battalion #1027, based in the cool and pleasant lands of Siberia.

In the meantime [as soon as I get my hands on the save and the game files] our ambassadors and attaches throughout the world are being intructed to reflect upon Krapovski's fate, and improve their attitude to all the nations of the world. It costs nothing to be polite, after all.

Unaware as we were of the absence of a proper peace treaty between us, we will endeavour to get papers drawn up as quickly as possible to regularise the position.

Ivan Ivanovitch, Deputy Czar.

PS, I will try the save without a password. Won't get a chance to play before Sunday afternoon, UK time, though. Sorry everyone.

Darius hasn't given me a great deal of background: Does Russia have any treaties/obligations/agreements with anyone?

Yes, please send me your copy of the game files, Germanos. Please zip them first.

Darius didn't send me a password, so I'm assuming, given his statements vis-a-vis passwording in another thread, that he hasn't bothered to do so. Yes, you do need to get the game files from someone already in this game. This version was a pre-release version and is different (in its tech tree) from the final versions currently on the Spanish Civ2 site and this site.

P.

Peregrine,

OK, I had guessed that - and so has Case fortunately. He and Germanos have sent me between them all the files I need.

I guess it's my turn to play. I'm not sure of the turn order yet, so I will just get the last turn posted here and play on.

If that was wrong, please ignore my next post!

John

OK, I have moved after the Brits and posted (there was no password).

I have set my attitude to everyone to Receptive or better.

I have taken no offensive action.

A Trade convoy has landed at Quebec. That's about it. For some reason I can't attach the file. I will try again in a sec..

Dear countrymen and foreign jounalists,

Japanese science reaches new levels after we opened our borders for foreign nations. It finally begins to boom.
Japan thanks all nations who establish trade routes with Japan. This is a mutual benefit, since Japan pays royally for every consuming good it receives.
More Mgf Goods, made in Japan are send all over the world.
The Empire of the Rising Sun finally begins to get a place in the world.
All nations may also keep on establishing trade routes with Japan, without any limits. Our countries officers are told to not maintaining a ZOC, which is very handy in trade.
Osaka also builds a university. Our final objective is to have a university in each city of the Empire. We also invite foreign students to come and study at our fine universities.

The hard times have passed, a new horizon opens now.
New times of glory for the Japanese empire are ahead of us.

For Patient English:

playing order:
Russia-you
Japan-Yop
France- Eivind
Germany-Tracid
US-Germanos
UK-Case
Independent-AI

I do not know when the Orients(barbs) play, not that it matters much.

There is still a PM for you waiting, I hoped you would read it before you would play your turn. If possible, answer before the US plays.

The US announces that tensions between Russia and the US have subsided. Russian merchants are free to sail US waters and the pacific. Trade will be beneficial for both. All this has been reached by private talks between Vice-President Germanos and the deputy-Tzar Patient Russia.:goodjob:

US-Russian relations:
I am sending my personal congratualtions to you both. I am pleased to see that a peacful solution where found.

Napoleon III of the French

French campaigns:
French militairy campaigns around the globe are going as planned. Victorious on every front!

The invasion of Spain:
French Imperial Troops have captured the crown jewel of Northern Spain. Barcelona will from now on be a part of the new French province in the Iberian penisula. The troops are reassembling before further advances can be made. But the heavilly defended city was not taken without casualties on the French side. The big pride of the French Mediterranean Fleet, the battleship "St-Étienne", was sunk while bombarding the city. A warning shell was fired by the coastel defence in the city. But "St-Étienne" stood firm. A memorial was rised in Paris to honour the dead. But Bordeaux are near by finishing a new and improoved battleship. The French Naval Fleet will continue to sail the seven seas.

Troops are coming into Barcelona by thousands everyday to participate in the invasion.

Another West-African city in French hands:
Timbuktu in West Africa also had to succumb to the French invaders. With outdated weapons, the tribal resitance had to give in.

North African campaign:
Tripoli in North Africa are also included in the ever expanding French Empire.

France on the seven seas:
Some trade routes was opened with the US and the British Empire. The citizens of Boston welcomed the French merchant marine with cheering when they sailed into the docks with their goods.
In Sydney the citizens brought the merchants flowers as a sign of hospitality.

Domestic affairs:
French police calmed the situation in Paris and Bankok. Several demonstrators had taken the streets to demonstrate against the imperialistic policy from the French emperor. But everything is under controll now. Many of them where arrested.
