New Scenario requires playtesting . . .

I have read the confession by Darius. I am not amused however that Darius in no way seems to repent his cheating and lying! He seems quite proud of his achievement: To paraphrase his words: 'the biggest diplomatic scandal in History. Good Job!'.
I would be deeply embarrased by all this, and certainly not boost on dispicable acts as you have done Darius.

You ask if this will be held against you as Tzar or as Darius. For me it is both. I can live with both:
As the Tzar in this game, you are just a player in a PBEM,and I just have to deal with you,as I have to deal with everybody else. Darius and player cannot be seperated completely, and Darius is untrustworthy, as proven. Your person does determine to a large degree the Tzar character.
Darius is also a whining person, since you still do not take complete responsability for your actions, and make it look the war had to start at some point or another, so all that has happened doesn't really matter. It does matter : You could have posted your turn without the meddling with earlier posts, and we would have had a different game, and I could have had respect for Darius, although I would offcourse loath the Tzar.
My first offensive actions against Russia in this game, inspired by a previous encounter with Darius (and stated so in the thread), have been justified, in retrorespect, by your meddling with your posts. I couldn't have hoped for more overwhelming evidence of my suspicions and distrust of you. You have chosen the most dishonest way to start a war with the US, by manipulating the justification for it.

Gameplay

So,as to return to the game, the US feels it has in no way mistreated the Tzar in any way nor at any point in time. The US is sad that the UK was mislead by Russia, and that a short period of cooling relations between our nations has occurred because of it. The US has been lucky that the relations could be improved to its previous level, thanks to the fact of the unexpected discovery of the original post. The US would have been in a very precarious situation indeed if the Tzar's cheating could not have been proven!
The US is thankfull to see the UK has now declared War on Russia, and its Ally France may have done so while I type this message and find the opportunity to post it. The latter case doesn't really matter: Russia may not hope for driving a wedge between the eternal alliance between France and the US. Russia will find itself completely isolated, with the possible exception of Germany (allready in the process of being crushed by the combined Forces of the Allies).
High diplomatic talks have taken place in both Friendly Capitals, and American proposals for a treaty with Russia, which will ensure a full and definite end of hostilities and hostile attitudes , has been met with general approval. Suggestions from both Nations have been taken into account by US diplomats, who are in the process of drawing up a final proposal of the treaty, which will be presented to the Russian Government if it shows any interest in ending the War and if it accepts full responsibility for the treason it has committed.
Russia must agree that the US should be compensated for:
- the loss of lives
- the loss of Crete
- committing agression without valid pretext (Russia's pretext has been the added sentences, NOT the feared 'inevitable war' as is now brought forward)
- the treason of the Tzar, that has harmed diplomatic standing in the World, and that could only be repaired by enormous diplomatic efforts by the US.

Russia is asked to announce publicly if it will receive the US diplomats. Bilateral talks will then start between the US and Russia. The US wishes to reach a definite Treaty ASAP, but expect a settlement will take some time to reach (lets say a week)

Of course I aploogize for what I did; I thought that was just implied. But I would at least attempt to defend myself against your judgments about me as a player. I consider this more of a stupid reaction to my own laziness than openly lying with the specific intent to sound blameless in agression.

People here would tell you that with the exception of this mistake and the confusion with sas at prewwi (I don't consider that situation lying or manipulation, but rather just an incorrect assumption on mine and Rhodry's parts as France was our ally after all, and even sas accepted my explanation and apology there), I've been a very trustworthy and dependable person. This is the first time I've lied outright and hopefully the last.

And I will receive your diplomats, but don't expect much.

Germanos, calm down.

All Darius did was slightly extend his earlier post - his original statement consitituted a 'keep off' notice with a huge loophole in it which you exploited.

While quietly changing it after it had became an issue of importance is unethical IMO, it's really no big deal and defiently doesn't constitute 'cheating'.

Seeing as you earlier saw fit to launch a surprise attack on Darius as payback for him defeating you in another game I really don't think that you can claim any moral high ground here ;)

Speaking personally, I can't claim that my actions in games havn't been influenced by my personal opinion of the people I'm playing against. However, carrying a grudge across unrelated games strikes be as being rather juveinile...

Sorry Darius, hopefully is not enough. I assume you want to say here certainly. You are very carefull in your statements...

And Case: don't give me the crap of being childish... Sneakattacking is something different then altering posts and lying. Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough, but I do not hold a grudge against Darius for pre-WW I. I did at no point say Darius cheated in the other game. I made up a story, and printed it as such here in the thread. The quotes from Darius did fit in excellently though...If I did, I would have told him there. I do take his actions here quite serious, and I do feel insulted. Both personally as gamewise. That is why I say to Darius here what I think of him, as he has asked.

Diplomats will visit Russia later.

Declaration of War

The last crisis triggered by the two great neighbours, USA and Russia, has caused the interference of the French empire as the ally of the united States of America. Russia has acted without permission from the international community, and will be punsihed thereafter. This kind of actions will not be accepted by their best allied. The way of showing this is by declaring war on its former military ally. The emperor does not know on any unreasonable actions in a pre ww1-game before the Imperialism game. France only accept that the Russian tzar has played a foul game.

Germany will still be the 1st priority (unless giveing the city of Trieste to France). There will be a state of war between France and Russia until the US can square up. And if diplomatic talks can not help the peace process, France will commit 100% against the Russian Empire.

Initially I hoped to ask whether America's allies knew of the Treaty of Crete's contents, as they are completely insulting and even potentially embarrasing to American prestige, but it seems that they all have seen and agreed to it. Therefore all I can do is announce that I simply reject all of its provisions.

Its extravagant demands and condescending attitude were written as if they were penned by a victorious U.S. general at a table atop the Kremlin in a completely conquered Russia, when in reality all the allies can threaten at this point is the sinking of two or three ships. Let your capabilities determine your demands, sir.

Why are we not playing? Anyway, I am going away now. Will be back the 19th. I hope we can intensify our playing then. Enjoy! :)

I think that most of the people in this game are away on holidays...

Blast! As I am posting everywhere, I'm going to be gone until at least the 20th, possibly even longer. It's a very long story. As it includes my not having access to the internet except for this 10-minute library sliver, I don't have time to arrange subs this time. Sorry, but I'll try to make the wait as short as possible. :suicide:

Fortunately I guess this coincides with a few other trips though. :)

Yop, my post 279 file said Russia, anyway here it is again:

Which would make it Tracid's turn. ;)

can´t find any french turn file, sorry......
