Don't forget, ALT+TAB is your friend if you're using Win95 or later. It takes you to the previous program you were in, which usually doesn't restrict you from navigating using the Start bar, so you can bounce to a Word document to keep your log. Doesn't work properly with WinME on PTW, though.
