New Unit: Chin Spearman

Oh man! A chinese specific pikeman!! Thank you thank you thank you thank you, its so nice to have this one, I was really looking forward to this!

I would just like to point out that this spearman (while being a beautifully made unit) is most definitly chinese. The hair style, the clothes, even the weapon is chinese.
Of course, you could, if you dont care to much for accuracy, use him as a japanese spearman. But as for me I wouldn't want him running around with my samurai, for the same reason I dont wish for my samurai to hook up with chinese units.

Since there is a multitude of japs units in PTW, I think it would be great if we focused a bit on chinese flavor units. They are just as interesting as their japanese equivalents.

There, now I have finished my tirade..

And I do agree with you 100% superunknown.

However, as I said before, "....we are not allowed to post any figures from the PTW expansion disk".
This leaves me with a problem....what can I use as the 2nd rank of the Samurai unit for the Ready-Made Multi-Figure Modpack?

As I see it, here are my only choices.....
1) use two ranks of Samuari (looks awful)
2) use one rank of Samuari (looks awful)
3) use some other figure (they all look awful)
4) leave it as a single-figure unit (looks awful compared to multi-figure ones)
4) use this Chin Spearman, until someone DOES make a proper Japanese peasant spearman.

In a game where almost anyone can build Longbowmen (when in reality they were only used by the English), or almost anyone can build west European Christan Knights (even Moslem nations and those civilizations like the Aztecs/Zulus/Iroquois who didn't even have horses at that period!)....well, I think that a little bit of 'artistic license' is acceptable. ;)

(I promise you that as soon as a better figure is created I will change it)

Has it been confirmed directly from someone at Firaxis that they would not allow a modified PTW unit to be posted? I know they said that posting units directly ripped from PTW was not allowable but I'm curious if they would not outrightly condone a modified unit or at least turn a blind eye towards it.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!
I think that Kryten is right about using it for his samurai, at least until a better alternative is made.
Lets get back to the praise.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (falls asleep still typing :) )

Why not use the AoK samurai instead? I would much rather see this stay a Chinese unit, or just make 1 rank of samurai. Or at least someone make a multiple version of this chinese spearman too, so that we can choose our own. Or even put archers behind the samurai. The AoK one would be the best though I think.

Bleah. Put the Chinese Spearman in there. I mean, at least they're from the right hemisphere, which you can't necessarily say about Firaxis units. ;)

I honestly didn't realise all the controversy I would cause by using this lovely figure by Kinboat.

Very well, once I have completed all the Multi-Figure Modpacks I will create my own and change it (a Civ3 shieldless Spearman with a Samurai's head will do the trick....he should look pleasantly peasanty. :) ).

Hey, Kinboat, any luck with giving this figure other weapons? He'd make a GREAT swordsman replacement for the Eastern civs, since the normal CivIII swordsman looks kinda silly for them.

I just started working on a version with a sword...

Hey kinboat, interested in doing these units?

:)

Edit. Better this way...
