This is a conversion from the Red Alert 2 game. The unit only has an attack animation, and a default animation which is used for run, death, and fortify. I am considering adding a death animation, but it would basically be an explosion that covers the whole unit, then dissappears (I am not able to make it actually fall apart or anything). I plan on making the Soviet Turret, Tesla Coil, and some other units as well.

If you have any idea for the stats on this, please post. Having the attack animation loop doesnt look good, so perhaps make it bombard only, and tag as cruise missile ??

NOTE: Make sure you tag this unit as "Ranged Attack Animation". If you dont, it will get so close to the defending unit that the rocket will be up their nose, and then fire. :D

How about as a transport for cruise missiles?

About the sounds - what format are the sounds in? wav?mp3? something else? I can convert pretty much any sound file into any other sound file type, so if I can help let me know.

Yeh, this would be cool as a transport for tactical nukes, that you could transport into enemy territory. Handy if you havent got a great navy

Red Alert has all of its files within a MIX file, and there are several mix files in each mix file, and several more in those, so finding the sound is near impossible.

I fear I may have to put a mic to my speakers to get the sound.

Your ideas are good. I will have to try a few.

That is an article for Tiberian Sun. I will try that program on Red Alert 2, but I dont have a sounds.mix file.

Sounds Pretty self explanatory. All of the unit sounds from TS.

I will look on my CD and a few other places before giving up.

I forget the file structure for RA2, but onr of the .mix files must have the sounds. If I remember correctly, the files you're looking for are 'language.mix' and 'audio.mix' - you should be able to extract them with the XCC Sound editor. I reccomend you check out the XCC homepage - http://xccu.sourceforge.net - for more info.

I will do that. Thanks for all your help. BTW your signature is outdated.

Get my units_32.pcx with 600+ icons here, now updated to v1.2 & PTW-compatible!

That tool works wonderously. Only problem is that I found all the VOX files (voices of commanders, and voices of units), but not the actual tank shooting sounds, or moving sounds.

I cannot think of anywhere else to look.

didnt think I could.

I found an audio.bag, and audio.idx, but I dont know what to do with them.

Nevermind I found it, and I am working on the sounds now

Yeah you open the sound editor, and then there are alot of lines that are blank. I thought that meant that they didnt exist, but it was that they werent labeled. So the soudns I skipped over earlier are the ones i needed. Once you find the right sound, click extract, and you got a wav. Now I gotta check to make sure they work in civ 3 (correct bitrate, MHz, etc)

Thanks for the help Zulu

Just an idea, but if you speeded up the attack animation, would that make the dissappearance of the nuclear missle less obvious?

Just updated the link in the first post. The unit now has sounds for run, attack, and death (though no animation for death yet, and I may not get around to it).

I am not sure what you mean Schizo_angel. If I speed if up, it will be launching rockets like there is no tomorrow. (may be cool, but not realistic).

Enjoy

Also: While I was testing the sounds (some I had to decrease volume of so they wouldnt blow my speakers) i took a screenshot in game. It is actually a worse pic than the one on the first post, but what the hey.
