New User - Cosmetic Issues

Hmm. I had the impression that this had something to do with WorldBuilder. I have never checked it, and really never even thought about it. Could it have any effect in my graphics glitches with BAT?

That checkbox tells Civ to ignore the code and XML changes in CustomAssets (but BlueMarble still works) during the game. It also changes the cheat code so you can't get to the developer console to cheat. I don't think it stops WorldBuilder, but I haven't tried.

well. this is no fix. we should find the error source without disabling any features.

My mod exists 1 year, I was always adding new units to it and I've never seen this error until maybe the last month. Therefore something new is producing this bug.

I have 2 versions of my mod: With and without improved graphics/blue marble. Will test it without many times and report.

Unfortunately, checking this does not fix the unit graphics glitch.

The Lock Modified Assets checkbox is only necessary if you make changes to the files in the CustomAssets folder that conflict with a mod installed in the Mods folder. I wasn't proposing it as a fix for the graphics glitches.

Cybah, you don't use BAT, so BAT isn't causing your problem. I've been using BUG for every game I play since I created it, and this is the first I've seen of this problem. I suspect you made a change to your mod in the past month that caused the problem for you.

Correct. You are seeing a similar graphic problem as Cybah, but you are using BAT. There are a lot of changes packed into BAT, and since I'm not familiar with them (or BAT, honestly), I don't know what the likely culprit is. Alerum is looking into the issue. If you could post a save that has the glitch (does it remain if you save, quit, restart, and reload the game?) for him to test?

Yes, it remains after a reload. I'd be glad to post a save, if someone tells me how.

Attach a save to a post here. While posting, scroll down below the edit box to Additional Options and click the Manage Attachments button. Then browse for the file and upload using the window that pops up.

I messed around with some of the Graphics Options (single unit graphics, no animations, high-res settings) and the problem went away, at least temporarily. I will mess around with these a bit more tomorrow to see if I can narrow down which settings had the effect, and if it is temporary or really fixed.

That is more evidence that it is a RAM (probably video) issue. Using single unit graphics effectively removes all the extra graphics from BAT and will reduce memory requirements considerably.

I've saved it, I've quitted, I've started Civ again, I've loaded it.

I got a 8800 GT with 500MB and 2GB ram - should be enough. ;)

I don't think the problems you're seeing are from low memory. It sounds like the Civ engine itself is getting confused. If all units of the same type were showing the wrong graphics only, it might be RAM (though it tends to merely CTD instead of show incorrect graphics). That you see some wrong and their hover stats are incorrect tells me Civ is getting borked.

I suspect the changes you've made. Try removing them piece by piece to see what happens. The problem is you won't be able to load saved games for testing; you'll need to start new games.

Cybah, unless you are using BAT, you know ALL units problems you encounter will be related to the units you add to your own mod? BUG does NOTHING to do the units or their graphics. Yes we do alter the plot list border, but that will not effect units at all.

You don't get it, sorry. I cannot remove particular units to resolve this problem because different unit types are effected every new game. Since BAT games have this error (with original units) too, my units CANNOT be the reason. This should be clear. If any model were broken, I would see it broken in every game and I would have it removed already.

Again: I'm able to remove some units from my mod. Sure. But you cannot compare two completely different games. One game, everything can be fine and in another game 1-2 units might be fuc*ed up.

I know you don't think BUG cannot be the reason. I don't think it either! But I'm sure if one of us can find the source, the other one will be able to clear it up too.

I did not see the error without blue marble/improved graphics in my mod yet. I'm still starting new games with very big map sizes but games last long, I cannot test 1000 games within some days.

Which components do you have in BAT?
