New UU's

The Vikings should have a amphibious swordsman unit. Ships are cool, but I like to have offensive units that can be used on land[like the Immortal or Mounted Warrior]. Of course, an early ship unit that can cross ocean squares sounds good....Firaxis should make both units and let us decide which ones we want.

Well, just as long as the viking swordsman dont have horns on his helmet Im happy (they didnt have that you know)

Kefka, I am disgusted by you. Honestly, what good could come about from you making tasteless comments about the Canadian lives lost to American bombs. If you don't like the unique unit idea then simply say so, don't make some rediculous comment that offends the dead.

I'm not one to flame, but for the good of the "civilized" world, never speak again.

Oh yeah, learn how to spell Afghanistan. I suppose not even CNN can spell it though...
wow your right I did misspeal it :crazyeye: but hey If you can't find hummor :crazyeye: in anything then you might as well not live
everyone dies its just a matter of when and were, anyway all I was trying to say is that the Hidden Nationality Flag is actualy a bad thing that was put in.
And really why would Canada need a Hidden Nationality unit?
Im wondering what about when one of those takes over a city? will it cause a war, or will you be able take over other countrys without even declaring war?
ya know Im gonna go try that out! that would be a really cool unit then.

Make sure it has strong defence becuase if they can survive the first wave they will enter the city unaposed the way the AI attacks pirates/privateers

The Romans defeated the Carthaginians at sea in the First Punic War; that is why Hannibal had to cross the Alps in the Second. So no naval advantage for Carthage. They should be able to cheaply hire "barbarian" swordsmen (treated as regulars) or such as they did that alot.

Vikings? Ocean-going galleys - just like the AI's galleys. Perhaps a ferocity factor for AXMEN when attacking.

Arabs would have HORSE ARCHERS with a bombardment factor before attacking.

Turks. Janissaries, of course.

Byzantine. Cathaphracts - heavy cavalry. Add Greek Fire for naval units (stronger attack value).

THE PROBLEM: All the original ancient units (I long ago heavily edited the post-gunpowder units) are too close together in values and strengths. By doing that it makes it difficult to create meaningfully different units. Unless Firaxis changes unit values for the better. Don't hold your breath,

I did that to the Russians with my hidden nationality Impi soldiers . I destroyed their empire in 1 turn. And they didn't even declare war;they were polite the whole time!

I think the longboat should be able to sail in ocean squares too.
The vikings traveled all the way to North America and acording to Selus to Australia (I dont know if thats true) too. But I dont know if it should replace the galley since the vikings had their GA around 1000 AD. Maybe it should replace the Caravel instead.

yea .. it true .. the proof is in the genetics of the tribe ... not to many aborininees with blonde hair about ... it was contained to the 1 area up on the northan tip .... but they never got back ... probally got ship wrecked like so many others .. like the dutch in 1600 and something ... landed in northan western australia ... poor buggers

How about a camel unit for the Arabs, something like the a camel archer perhaps:D .

To make the UU's more effective and useful, Firaxis needs to try and make something like the Hitpower mod I found in the downloads section. I found it changed the way one uses obsolete and modern units and greatly reduces chances of a freak Modern Armor vs spearman result that a lot of people complain about.

Apart from that, it would be cool if some of the UU's are shifted to medieval times and a few redundant units are put n the proper upgrade path or made to "disappear" ;)

Kefka don't be an idiot.

The Celts need a Drunken Brawler unit with no attack or defend rating, but the special ability to enter another civ's city and cause instant civil disorder :D

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! YAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's funny Hippo!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I was thinking the Spanish special unit (Conquistador) could be a pumped up explorer that requires Iron and Saltpeter. It could cost maybe 10 or 20 more shields and have an A/D/M of 3/3/2 or something. Ya know, Spanish Conquistadors did conquer the Incas, Aztecs, and Mayas. But here's a weird thing: Christopher Columbus was a Spanish explorer but he wasn't a Conquistador.

A few beads and baubles won the Indians(CArib and Arawak) more easily than the Aztec and Inca Empires:D

IN Civ terms, he got a free settler frm the village, while the conquistadores had to fight a whole empire;)

Ya. That sounds believable.

Herez what I know about the UUs so far:

Spanish: Conquistadore

Ottoman Turks: Janissaries

Vikings/Norse: Viking Warrior (the marine swordsman)

Celts: Woad Warrior (no clue what Woad means)

Mongols: Horse Archer, or maybe Rider and let the Chinese have something else

Arabs: Camel Archer

Byzantines: Cathaphracts (some type of heavy cavalry Zouave thought up)

Incas:Far Runner, some type of Scout unit

This is what I know so far.;)

Okay going on the civs I want:

Mongols - Cavalry archer (no need for magudai or anything just cav archer). This should be diff from other specials in that it dont replace anything but you get it when you get chivalry as well as a knight. 5,1,3 requires horses - blitz.

Viking - Amphiious swordsman sounds good to me, berserker. Give him an extra hitpoint as well

Spain - conquistador, musketeer with +1 attack and +1 movement

Carhtage - im proved galley, +1 movement, +1 attack (Romans copied theoir ship design from carhtage)

Portrugal - Something to replace caravel +2 movement

Arabs - Mameluke - not a frigging night replacement - longbowman with +1 attack and +1 defense

Turks - Marine replacement

Hebrews - tank replacement

English - Liverpool fan. Automaticly razez colosseums, kills one citizen, even in his own cities.

American - Bombarding unit. All allied units within 12 squares has a 50% chance of being hit by "Friendly Fire"

French - Colonial Regiment. Automaticly looses when fighting English and German units.

Germans: SS - automatically ends all resistance but leads inevitably to American invasion.

Italians: Partisan - fights very effectively in mountains but forces break of Alliance and war against former ally.

Swiss: Banker - brings loads of extra tax but forces neutrality

j/k

haha, good one, killer,

Mongol - Must return all units to capital if leader dies.
(Somewhat historical correct, but will take 400 years in civ)

Japaneese - Can unse captured workers to build roads twice as fast, but worker is then disbanded.

:mwaha:

New Zealand: Sheep UU - stops population growth (sorry, couldn`t resist)

Chinese: Little red book maker: makes all workers follow him, but introduces perpetual smile thus happiness in ever citiy he touches. Even enemy....

Polynesians: Dodo - dies out!

Catholics - Doubles the growth of any city

The Pope - forces any civ to loose thre civ advances.

Polish Popes - Forces any civ to loose 35 civ advances.

English -A Tatcher unit. loose The Union civ advance.

America - Ophra unit. This little woman increases happiness in any city by 5, but in the same time completely stops any kind of intellectual progress.

Or how about

Egypt: Egyptian queen : Forces all other kings to sign alliances with her:D ;)

Pakistani: Jehadi--Instantly liberates a city for civ, but kills one citizen every turn:rolleyes:

Japan: Joe Samurai;) -- Increaes ouptut of city 50%, but will cause population to stop growing:D

hehe

Germans: the Schumi unit - makes every citizen drive like crazy and die in accidents thus reducing population by 1 / round. Can only be stopped by removing all roads

French: LePen unit: makes every citizen content with present ruler....

Russia: Gorbie unit - splitsa empire into several states and increases corruption - but also moves production up!

Taliban unit: makes terraforming happen when used against civs with bombers. Just place him on the tile ands the bombers will terraform for you

Allatoyah Unit - Kills 80% of population in every citizen, stopps all civ advances, reduces all culture to 0, makes all other nations furious towards you, makes trade embargo against you...

BUT...

get to wear a funky little black robe
