I'm thinking about creating a scenario with the Atlantis theme, this, of course would require a part of the map to submerge (become ocean) sometime in 10000 BC. Is this posible to do in CivIII somehow?
Also, can I set up the number of years that pass per turn in an era? (e.g. in prehistoric times, there would be 100 years (or so) turns.

Thanx in advance for help

Unfortunately it is not presently possible to have terrain change during the game. There is no events editor for Civ3, like there was for Civ2. Perhaps eventually this will be possible. To my knowledge it is not possible to alter the number of years that pass for each turn, either, though I think there may be a hack in the utilities section that will allow you to change starting year for the game.

With Gramphos multitool you can change the end year in a saved game; it can't start earlier than 4000 BC, you can't control the year increment, and it can't be used on a real mod (i.e. manipulating the civ3mod.bic so it appears like a regular game).

The people behind the game spoke of events in the recent chat. Look around for a transcript.

Too bad...
What other game could be used to do it? SMAC perhaps? (I know it could be done in CTP2, but i don't like the AI and some bad concepts of that game...)

MY suggestion:

As resource icons OVERLAY the terrain underneath if you were to have large enough RESOURCE icon pictures you could change the look of the terrain as it is overlain. With the resource option you can certainly ADD shields, commerce and food production and who knows (haven't tried yet) may be able to have negative bonuses (e.g as would pollution.)

As revelation of resources come with certain techs attained then you can have a suitable trigger for TERRAIN CHANGE.

IT MAY be possible to hack together an ocean look and production, but I haven't thought yet of how to make it change from LAND (land units only) to SEA (sea units only).

Firaxis didn't really think about mod-making that much...they thought more along the lines of customisation :(
