without using war? i just start playing the game since yesterday and i always forced to use my army to capture other cities.

p.s. sorry if this kind of thread had been posted million of times as i just realise the search function is disable.

You can "flip" the city to your civilization if your nearby cities have a lot more culture than it does so that your borders push their borders in.

Moreover, if you are allied with some civ, they may occasionally give you some useless city. They do not offer it directly, but you see the city's name in white, not in red.

that mean all i need is to focus my culture points and make my cities expand so that it will cover the other cities right? hmmmm by the time i had lots of culture point it will be already 2050... domination wins is kinda hard man... i always use the spaces and time to win:(

also you need to use a Great Artist in your culture bomb city to dramatically increase its culture in one turn. Great Artists have a special ability to create Great Work (Art) or something in the city that would increase its culture immediately.

It would also be useful to have the creative trait, which gives each of your cities additional 2 culture points / turn.
Causes rapidly expanding cultural borders of new founded cities (15 turns or less till the culturaln borders grow and encompass your fat X ;) ) and gives you much more chances to flip cities if used right.
It´s one of the reasons I like Fredrick and Catherine as both have the creative trait ;)

Use those great artists! I've taken cities just by implanting the GA as a super-specialist. Somehow, in one game I had a city that was constantly churning out artists. I'd send them along with a settler and a couple defenders, drop down and put a super-specialist in play. It works better than a culture bomb in the early game. Put two of those surrounding another civ's city and they'll be revolting soon enough.

pisses off your neighbor, though.
