Newbie Question - Locking Civs in a Timeperiod

Is there a way to lock all civs so that the furthest anyone can advance is the ancient ages?

You'd have to do some editing but it's possible yes. One way of doing it would be to spread the ancient era techs out over all four eras. Another would be to replace the Modern Era techs with those of the Ancient Era. Then you would start the game in the last era. I think you would need Conquests in order to do that though.

Or u could make them start with all the ancient era techs and make it take 700 years to get the next tech.
