It is canceled automatically.
If you loose the luxury, you also loose immediately the income of this trade (if it was gpt).
It does not force a war.
AFAIK it does not hurt their or your reputation.
If the AI looses its luxury that was traded with you, you will get the message that you lost your supply of ....(whatever it was) and you longer have to pay for (if you paid gpt).

That's all I know. Anybody else has some more insights?

@DANGERBOY and Padma, many thanks (although I'm obviously still outta luck).

Here's another question I haven't been able to find an answer to: in the same game, I made a serious blunder. I accentially accepted an offer from Joan D'arc which I did not want... just had an itchy enter-button finger. Is there anything equivilent to an "un-do" or "command z". Out of principle, I've never re-loaded a game, but if I can't correct a simple error, I may have to break this self-imposed rule.

Can this be done?

AFAIK there is no "un-do" command and probably it is on purpose, because it would "encourage" people to even cheat more by not having to go to the trouble of reloading.

I just wondering about getting techs from goody huts in the medevial ages. I made a map with lots of huts and no techs seemed to come out during the MA

Constantine you can only get techs from the Ancient Ages from goody huts.

Now I have a question: When I am forced to declare war when someone declares war on my MPP ally, am I considered the aggressor in terms of calculating the amount of war weariness I suffer?

Okay, I have looked around, played around, and I can't figure these two:

1) Is there a way to move a stack of units? If I want all 25 artillery to go from here to there, do I have to make 25 individual moves, or can I move them all at once?

2) I have had a couple of leaders appear. What do I do with them? I don't see any "form army" button appear with them. How do I activate that?

1. Yes, there is a "stack" command although it's not as "nice" as it could be. Make usre all the units are active (none fortified or "asleep" - you can right-click on the stack to "wake all" if necessary.
Then select one of the unit type you wish to move, and use "J" (I think, from memory - it's easier to do than to explain it :)) as if it were the "go" "G" command. All the units of the same type will move together.
You cannot move multiple unit types as a stack, afaik.

2. Move leader to city. You should then get options for the leader including building an army and rushing an improvement (including wonder) in that city. You have to form the army in a city.
Once you have the army it will be an "empty" army - you then move units into that tile with the army and use "load" to load units into the army. Note that this can be done anywhere, the army can move about when "empty"

Just curious, can an elite defender generate a GL, after successfully fending off an attacker?

check the FAQ
and also sumthinelses thread on Great Leader from which the following is excerpted
Probabilities of creating a leader in an elite victory if none of the above restrictions apply

* If your elite is attacking and you do not have the Heroic Epic wonder, 1/16
* If your elite is attacking and you have the Heroic Epic wonder, 1/12
* If your elite is defending and you do not have the Heroic Epic wonder, 1/32
* If your elite is defending and you have the Heroic Epic wonder, 1/24
So defensively you can create a GL

If your elite is defending and you do not have the Heroic Epic wonder, 1/32
If your elite is defending and you have the Heroic Epic wonder, 1/24

From sumthinelse's leader thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24371

The newbie thread, K-D? The newbie thread? Tssss...;)

EDIT: you're a lot faster than I am, madscot...

Well, I don't know everything - don't play Civ3 all that much. :) Rather than opening a new thread (and taking it up space), thought I'll ask some of you experts here direct.

Thanks, guys. :)

???????

I'd guess no, as long as the enemy conducts the first offensive action. That means: do not attack his units outside your territory, do not bombard him and do not have units in his territory the turn you are forced to declare war (this will be difficult sometimes) as this counts as ROP rape.

In a Regent game I am behind in techs when i make contact with Egypt. Now I'm supposed to see techs that I don't have listed under their Techs, so all I see are Feudalism, Engineering and Invention BUT when Egypt declares war on me they bring Ironclads and their Carvels unload Cavalry!!

What's up with that??

@PersianImmortal: you can only see the techs that you are able to explore, not the techs following them. After getting Invention from them, you will be able to see Gunpowder on their negotiation screen. But boy, you're waaaaay behind:eek:

Strange though, you see Engineering, Feudalism and Invention??? How can you see Invention when Engineering and Feudalism are both unknown to you?

I may have missed out some techs but this does answer my question.. so i'll only see the first step techs and the rest only once I get these. Thanks!

The game goes on.. i've managed to buy democracy while they are building infantry.. ah well .. me and my policy of not reloading.. I started stranded on an island (no rivers) away from all civs and didn't get the lighthouse.. only made contact after discovering Astronomy and immediately got war declared on me cuz the AI saw those helpless swordsmen running around .... heheh

A quick question. The manual says that soldiers in fortresses can take "free shots" at enemies. Anyone know how to do this?? And is this an attack without risk or what?

You don't have to do anything; it happens by itself when a hostile unit walks by your unit fortified in a fortress. (Certain units, those with so-called "zone of control" ability, can also do this when fortified other than in a fortress.)

There's no risk, in the sense that the hostile unit that your unit fires upon will not be subject to immediate counterattack. Your unit will merely fire upon the passing unit, possibly doing a hit point of damage. This only occurs if the you are at war with the civ that the passing unit belongs to, of course.

I believe that units in a fortress may get a zone of control from the sound of it which means they will take a HP off of an enemy that passes near them.

Sometimes, however, it can be on accident. I once wanted to ask Catherine what she'd offer for Saltpeter, and I accidentally press "Please accept this gift"

There is no undo option; you have to ride it out for 20 turns. But I am familiar with reloading (don't get started). Be careful about it, because sometime the autosaved game may have saved after you have made the deal. Then yoiu have to go back another year, and that is a huge pain.
