The thing about patience brought to mind that I recommend PBEM's to you too. They are all full here and I think Apolyton too, but if you took a good scenario you could probably start a new one.
In a PBEM people play out their turns any time, post a savegame from the finished turn on a thread, and then the next person plays their turn out using the savegame. It's kind of like chess by mail, but quicker and more fun. The best thing is that they're flexible; you can play your turn anytime you're free and you don't have to set up times or anything.
If you have a scenario in mind, you can just start up a new thread and wait for others to join. I always do (I don't think there's enough happening), there are a few other regulars that are looking for a PBEM, and a few PBEM games ended recently so there might be some others looking around. Just be sure to grab people's attention and you can usually get a good six people playing in no time.
