I have found browsing in the civ3 section that there have been many newbie posters lately (under 100 posts). They aren't too bad as far as newbs go, but they still do say some funny things. I can't talk to much about this, as i only have around 160 posts.:crazyeye: I just don't post a lot. Anybody else observe the plethora of newbs? sounds like good news for TF

I noticed them. :) I moved lots of wrong threads out of the files forum posted by mostly newbies -- that's the only slightly annoying part.

Some new posters actually have more posts than you already and are aiming for the magic 300 posts milestone. ;)

You have lots of competition Mummyman. :D

The number of new users joining each day is steadily increasing, I imagine. I think now most posts come from people with less than 200 or so posts, maybe even less. And it's amazing how many people register and then never post at all. Why do they even register?

I know, I'm one of them! :D

No, you are not. :D By CFC standard, posters who have discovered the secret of Site Feedback are no longer consider newbies. :crazyeye:

And by the same standard, posters who have registered for a long time but have never posted in Site Feedback, are still newbies. :crazyeye:

They probably just forget. ;) I just wonder how much space all those one-post and no-post registered users are taking up.

Some just reserve their favorite name at every site they come across.

I first registered so I could search the forums. I my not have needed to do this, but it seemed like I had to or I could only read the articles, but not search the posts.

Another reason its a problem is that registration can be a real pain. It took me about a month to get my registration woorking. I had to actually put my compliant in the guestbook to get it working for me. I still haven't thanked Thunderfall for helping me out. I guess now is good. :crazyeye:

Thanks Thunderfall your a real help

I am of the belief that newbies should be seen and not heard. :D
And if we can't have that, then at least keep them confined in their Civ3 section. ;)

WHEW good thing I stopped being a newbie. Or else simon darkshade would be after me.

Who says you have stopped? :p And if one was after you, it would not be realized until you got shot through the neck with an barbed arrow. With a gas bill tied to it. That is overdue.

i only found out about site feedback a few months ago so i think i am now considered not a newbie

I don't see the need (for me, anyway) to post here, but I've regularly read the site feedback forum since I registered a year ago - does that count?

I guess so, because TF said you aren't a newbie if you've discovered the site feedback forum, not neccesarily posted there. :)

Ahhh, but if you've never posted in Site Feedback, there is no record of you having 'matured' as a poster.

Yeah but some of these posts here are immature. Maybe thats not the way to differentiate newbies from non-newbies

Actually, you can just disregard what I said completely, because note what TF says here:

Notice that here he said posted, not discovered. So Franklyn, if you hadn't posted asking if not posting but just viewing SF means you're a newbie, you would still be a newbie, but now you're not a newbie because you asked if you were a newbie! If that makes any sense... :crazyeye:
