Civilization VI - Game of the Month 90
Welcome to the 90TH game in the 6OTM Series! These games will allow new and old GOTM fans to try out the new features in Civ6 in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. We will be working to refine the 6otM concept as we move ahead with the series.
Must Read!

We would like to ask you to abide by our most sacred rule: Don’t replay any turns! If you make a mistake, accept it and try to recover. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to 1 turn. In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous save and play it as closely to how you played it the first time. Please let Leif, or Myself know (via Conversation (Private Message)) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed. Gifting of cities is an exploit in a religious VC the AI cant see that it will lose if it accepts the cities. .

Information about threads associated with each individual 6otM -- Must Read if you are new to our Game of the Month!
Spoiler :
Please note: If you wish to make a video of your game, please do not post any links to it until after the game submission date has passed. This is because of the potential spoilers that are created by posting before the end date. Thank you for your cooperation.
Announcement thread (this one): This thread is used to announce the game and clarify the settings and rules (don’t be afraid to ask questions). It’s also used to discuss the game before you start, and post problems with opening the save. Once you have opened the save, DO NOT POST in the Announcement thread, even non game-related information. Instead use the next thread.
Opening Actions thread: This thread is used to discuss the game's opening decisions and strategies through the first 100 or so turns. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. We encourage players to use the spoiler tags for screenshot. During the time the game is active, please do not post any information concerning the game outside of the spoiler threads including screen shots, videos, or recorded/live-cast Let's Plays on other websites.
After Actions thread: In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss date and final score (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Some players like to replay the game, and although we will not record the results from a replay, you can still post your new experiences. The game will not be closed as such, but after one month, the results will be compiled, and will not necessarily be updated with reports coming in after the finish date.
Results and Congratulations thread: We will create a separate thread with the results at the end of the one month submission period (sorted by date and score). We will issue medals to the top 3 winners (based on earliest date finished). There are no long-term records kept for these results, they are just given out to top finishers to reward their efforts.

I've been getting into Civ over the past couple months. I'm not at the level as some of the crushers in here, but I'm looking forward to diving into this. I need to work on my domination strategies.

I'm leaning towards moving my settler to the cocoa for my first city. Waiting until turn 4 to settle seems risky but the extra gpt, ability to sell the lux, and the 2f/2p plains hill tile could pay off nicely. Other option seems to be to just settle in place and work the deer. I think I'll move my warrior west and make the decision.

Definitely bold. I'm generally not inclined to move my settler that far unless it is really good and we already have a plains hill. Most likely will SIP and try to get Varu early since they don't require any resources, though very expensive to build.

Yeah the more I think about it, it’s probably better just to SIP. On the huge Pangea map, it’s going to be important to get scouts out there meeting other civs and city-states. I’ll fire this up tonight and try it out.

What's SIP?

Settle In Place.

I plan to SIP and make horses and varus (varus got nerfed so only one instance of -5 combat applies to an adjacent unit, no stacking debuff).. as many horses as resources allow, filling in with varus when out of horses.

Not going to play but would most likely come off the hill to get closer to the Marble, for the Early Culture Boost.
Settle an Expo directly on the Chocolate most likely.

I generally do one scout (at least on standard size) - ideally finding a religious city state for an early pantheon (please, please a free settler; else generally military production or culture), finding places to build a 2d/3d city, and then finding other civs. After that my scouting would normally be seeing how many other civs the civs I meet know and generally head in the largest direction all else being equal. Resources, current wars between civs, and toughness definitely can make a difference.

For military, horsemen are the bulk of my early armies - and light cav make great combat scouts if you haven't found everyone. I generally don't like to go to war until I have overwhelming force, which can be as low as 3-4 horsemen in the right situation. Magnus to black market (State Workforce + Early Empire + Gov Plaza does it, but at the expense of other governors) and chopping can make a large horsemen army quickly - assuming the capital or 2d city have horsemen in them so you already have a stockpile. Forward build swordsmen and battering rams for anyone with walls. Bypass anyone too tough (like India with Varu when I only have horsemen if we weren't playing India). Ideally make them friendly and joining other wars with you so they deplete their military and make wars easier. Playing as India, you can hit tough civs later by adding a couple Varu and a GG to that army...and with Chandragupta a Territorial War; the triple combo can be a 10/15 strength difference against cities/units.

Pretty amazing having 4hammers start, and +4 campus in 1st ring... And probably quick 2nd city for 2f2h/3g cocoa.

It doesn't look like challanging start, but having huge map domination is quite chalanging on its own
