AlanH: Thank you for the reply. I downloaded the "assetchecker" and it looks like I am missing many "python files." I have verified that I successfully downloaded all the patches to Vanilla, Warlords and BTS. I recently installed Colonization. I am wondering if that might have had an effect??

Any additional thoughts. I really don't want to uninstall the whole Civ4 suite to start my installs all over again, but really want to try my hand at a lower difficulty GOTM. Thanx in advance for your advice.

Sometimes it's enough to just run the patches again.

... and make sure you don't use any Mod other than the correct HoF

I'm more of a builder type, finding most of my games get late into the ADs for a space ship or UN diplo victory. This game I'm going to challenge myself to win by conquest. I'm not sure I've ever done that...

That sounds like a good idea. I am too much of builder also, so this is the chance for me to break that mould.

New player to XOTM. I notice that in some games the first spoiler thread is just a few days after the save is posted. There is none yet for this game. Is there an average time to wait? Just wondering. While I am having a lot of fun, I would like to see how others have fared.

Typically we'll post the first spoiler about 1 week and the 2nd spoiler 2 weeks after the game has been released, but there's no hard-and-fast rules and it's normally at the discretion of the game designer. In this case I'm holding off another day or so for the BOTM 11 one because I'm not going to be around to monitor it for part of the weekend. (And sadly, there seems to be a virtual guarantee with spoilers that someone very quickly posts something that breaks spoiler conditions, requiring a moderator to edit )
