My first map, and I must say I'm absolutely thrilled about the many incredible games played. 43 submitted victories on Immortal level, and some of them quite astonishing. Without actually looking, I doubt we have ever seen a game with over 400,000 points not get a medal.

Taking a cue from Erkon's GOTM 40, I'm going to hand out an award for the game that most captured the spirit of the map. And stealing an excellent idea from the last spoiler thread, this game's special FISH AWARD :splat: will go to Earthling, for a mindboggling Sushi game ending with a base score of 21146 - simply amazing! :goodjob:

Thanks for playing, and I hope you all enjoyed the game! :thanx:

Congrats to all the medal winners, and everyone who played a good game! I know and you all know that a lot of those domination victors could have beaten my cow/fish if they'd played it out that long too, happy to get it anyway, and make the most of the Sushi. At least the game finished before the dolphins went away and the Earth was destroyed :splat:

And once again it was an excellent map, both the theme and design, had quite a few surprises in store. Good work.

Edit: Oh, and sorry cas...I'm sure you had a great game too, all that time and all...!
(and for those wondering like I said in the other thread I don't know why my time is so low, it always does that for me on any game I play, maybe it doesn't count AI turns or my machine being slow or something)

Congrats to Gosha for winning the gold after missing two early wonders. Quite an achievement considering the tough competition from ShannonCT, Jeffa and jesusin who also played good games. It was fun to watch your close finish in the sushi race, maybe I should change my occupation to a dairy farmer too and join the fun some day, since fast finishes don't seem to get enough attention in civ4 xotms.

 I think you simply picked the wrong time to play an outstanding game!

Obormot's Conquest win is truly one of the most impressive games I've ever seen, I should have mentioned that too (but I was worried I was already blabbering too much :crazyeye:). 1070 AD on a map that is a logistical nightmare, and Immortal level - playing the Challenger save too! :goodjob:

You got me wrong, I was talking about the players' attention. :) My point was that we had great competition for highest score, but little competition for fast finishes.

I don't think my play in this gotm was outstanding. I wasn't brave enough to get the GL wonder early, while still at the same time axe-rushing Vicky as ShannonCT did; this lead economic problems and very late research of construction, so I had to fight without catapults for a long time and took heavy losses. I don't remember the details, but I think that my logistics was far from perfect too, especially in the final part of the game. The reason why I finished far ahead of everybody else was apparently that I was the only one targeting a fast conquest (not high score) in this game.

I'm more lucky than you. I saw Obormot's conquest on deity, continents with similar finish date. It was CRF tournament a few years ago. Though current Obormot's conquest is a top level game too. Thanx to him for participating!

Congrats to the winners!
Gosha190 -
ShannonCT, jesusin - :goodjob:
Obormot - :worship:
Conquistador 63 - 500! :king:

Congratulations to the winners. :goodjob: Great write-ups in the spoilers too.
A marvellous map, this was! :king:

I was left out in the cold again

I never paid attention to any medal before... and I'll never do it again once I get that gold out of my heptathlete's way.

Playing for a fastest finish is so much more fun!

Congratulations to everyone. 'Wow' is all I can say.

I agree, but it is nice to compare your game to someone elses, and when going for a fast finish you may very well end up to be the only one who targeted that specific goal, while there is always some competition for the medals.

Congrats.

I was definitely going for the cow for the first time ever...and a low score shield as usual. The two don't mix well. Looking at your save I would have needed to pack cities 2-3 times as close and probably crash my computer. I do play slow and this game was LONG even by my standards...but the time stat is misleading because I'll do things on my second comp while playing here and there.

archi/dutch combo was fun and different for me. And I've never founded a corp before...so I decided to experiment with sushi once the game was in hand.

Thanks to Niklas for the very inspired map! :goodjob:
Very strong games from the +400k quartet :hatsoff: and also from Obormot! BTW, having Jove and Lexad as runner-ups for fastest conquest isn't exactly what I'd name as weak competition. ;) If there is someone who could complain about that subject, that would be me. :)

p.s. Jeffa: thanks for checking the speed/combined rankings, I thought nobody would notice that.

WOW....

Great numbers by ALL....

I really do need to investigate these Corporations more thoroughly, I definitely have NO CLUE how to effectively use them.

Crap, my laptop woes slowed me down a bit and I forgot to even participate.

I'll just pretend I won "fastest time victory" or something.

Wow! You managed to shave a lot of time off your "elapsed time"... and set a mark that will truly be impossible to beat! This is really taking the "minimum micromanagement" to an extreme! :mischief:

:hatsoff: Congrats Obormot!

I admit I didn't play my best game this time (I can't speak for Lexad ). Still, I think you got to the heart of the conquest approach, even if you complain of your execution. I'll try to 'be there' more next time

Congrats to the high scorers :)
